John Paul â€śJPâ€ť Richards, 86, of Fort Smith, Ark., formerly of Keota, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro. Burial will be in Old Cache Cemetery, Keota, under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Billie Jean Burdick, 83, Spiro, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012. Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 7, at Mallory-Martin Chapel, Spiro. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Alice D. Blake, 91, of Shady Point died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Alice was born June 5, 1920, in Mason to Henry and Hazel (Jones) Snyder.Â She was a homemaker.Â Alice was a member of the Presbyterian Church.Â
Freddy A. Goines, 55, of Pocola died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, in an area hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, in the Lewis Funeral Chapel, Fort Smith.
Lawrence E. Clayton was born in Fort Coffee in 1927. He served in World War II and was a scout leader with Boy Scouts of America; he received the highest award for a scout leader to receive.Â Clayton was a Presbyterian Elder who loved the church and was also a Sunday School Teacher.Â He loved to sing and some of his favorite songs were â€śGod is Able,â€ť â€śOne Day at a Timeâ€ť and â€śLiving Testimony.â€ť
Â He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Emma (McClish) Clayton; son Billy Wayne Clayton; three brothers and three sisters.
Bill Buttress, 82, Spiro, died Jan. 3, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.Â He was born July 15, 1929, at Shady Point to Luther James and Mary (Mulkey) Buttress.Â Bill was a cattleman and also retired from Riverside Furniture where he worked 33 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, â€śJocielâ€ť; one son, Pete Buttress; one daughter ,Sandra Jean Buttress; and two brothers.Â
Dr. William Chester â€śBillâ€ť Noblet passed from this life into our memories on Dec. 26, 2011. He had suffered a massive brain hemorrhage on Christmas Eve. Dr. Noblet was born June 7, 1940, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Chester and Wilma Noblet.
He was raised in Spiro, a town that always remained dear to his heart. During his lifetime Bill served the Lord well, loving friends, neighbors and patients as he did himself; they loved him in return.
Wanda Nixon, 79, McCurtain died Jan. 3, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.Â Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Calvary Assembly of God Church, Poteau, with burial at Milton Cemetery, Milton, under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
Ronald Dee Knight, 71, of Leflore died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, in Poteau. Ronald was born August 7, 1940 in Leflore to Willis Jesse and Leona Bivian (Mann) Knight. He was a member of the Leflore Baptist Church. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Willis Jr. Knight and Harold Dean Knight.
Survivors include three sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia Essman of Leflore, Barbara Imogene and Walter Solomon of Skiatook, Norma Lee and Bill Smith of Fort Worth, Texas; 14 nieces and nephews, other relatives and loved ones.
Rebecca â€śDackyâ€ť White, 69, of Spiro died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Louisiana. Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro, is handling arrangements.
