Shawn Lee Kirkes, 43, died Monday, April 14, 2014, in Forth Smith, Ark.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Cupco Cemetery under the direction ofÂ Burkhart Funeral Services, Talihina.
Betty Lou (Perry) Mitchell, 68, of Arkoma died Sunday, April 13, 2014.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro and 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope Holiness Church in Lindsay. Burial will be in Dibble Cemetery.
Jess Burns Jr., 57, of Poteau died Monday, April 14, 2014, in Poteau.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. April 19, at Checotah Community Center under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
Patsy Lee Johnson, 56, of Checotah, formerly of Poteau died Friday, April 11, 2014. Patsy was born in Poteau Nov. 19, 1957, to John and Oma Lee (Ward) Metzker. She attended Carl Albert State College. Pasty was preceded in death by her parents.
John Calvin Greer died Friday, April 11, 2014, in Bolivar, Mo. He was born June 13, 1922, in Brawley, Ark., to Reginald and Iva (Oliver) Greer.
He grew up in Poteau and is in the Poteau High School Hall of Fame. John served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942-1946 in the South Pacific. He went to Southeastern State College in Durant on a track scholarship and graduated there. John taught Science in Oklahoma and Kansas and retired from teaching in 1985. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Leavenworth, Kan.
Jewel Roop, 87, of Heavener died Saturday, April 12, 2014.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Cynthia Nelson, 98, died Monday, March 30, 2014, in Hayward, Calif.

Buford C. Armstrong, 88, of Fort Smith, Ark., died Sunday, April 13, 2014, in Fort Smith. Buford was born October 10, 1925 in Meadowview to Pat and Evie (Phillips) Amstrong. He worked at Trane until he retired. He was of the Assembly of God faith. He loved to hunt, fish, garden and he loved his animals. Buford was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Armstrong; two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Harlen, Aire â€śBearâ€ť and Willis â€śChuckâ€ť Armstrong.
Gene Ray Ward, 72, of Heavener died Thursday, April 10, in Heavener.
Gene was born Feb. 9, 1942, in Bates, Ark., to Clyde and Edna (Dedmon) Ward.
Gene was a graduate of Waldron High School and attended Arkansas Tech University. He was a cattleman and was in the livestock auction business since 1962. He was an owner of Poor Boy Livestock Auction for almost 30 years from 1980-2009. Gene was saved and baptized at Bates, Ark., and attended the First Baptist Church of Heavener.
