Clyde Ellis Byous of Poteau died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, in Fort Smith, Ark.
He was a self-made man who started in the coal mines of Oklahoma at age 14, then moved to the migrant farm camps of California in the migrations that began during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression. He married Martha Covey on April 1, 1945. He was 18 and she was 15. He became a carpenter in 1950 and went on to become a successful general contractor and cattleman. He and Martha were both private pilots who enjoyed flying their Cessna aircraft. He did very well in life.
J.B Lovell, 64, of McCurtain died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at McCurtain Assembly of God under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Stigler.
Jean Blaylock, 89, of McCurtain died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, in Spiro.
Jean was born March 17, 1925, in Milton to Elzy and Clara Lee (LeFlore) Tolbert. She was a devoted wife and homemaker.Â She loved to raise flowers and make quilts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elzy and Clara Tolbert; her husband, Jim Blaylock; one daughter, Wilma Blaylock; two sons, Danny and Lanny Blaylock; one sister, Dean Fout; and two brothers, Charles and Daniel Tolbert.
Anna Mae Tryon, 63, of Oologah died Sunday, Feb. 8., 2015. Graveside services were held Monday, Feb. 16, at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Gale Arthur Schell, 78, of Muskogee went to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015. He was born July 2, 1936, to Marshall and Marian (White) Schell in Jones.
He graduated from Oktaha High School with the class of 1954. Gale married the love of his life, Ronnie Faye (Jackson) Schell, on July 12, 1955, in Oktaha. They shared over 59 years of marriage together. Gale was a member of Grace Bible Church of Muskogee.
Bobby Stinson, 66, of Heavener died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015. Services were held Sunday, Feb. 15, at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
William Louis Dorey, 96, of Poteau died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, in Poteau. Bill was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Wilferd Sr. and Bertha (Woods) Dorey. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in WWII. He was a devoted family man who loved God. He was a loving man, beloved by many. He was a business man and an active church member until his health prevented his attendance.
Bobby Stinson, 66, of Heavener, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Billy Earl Hudgins, 84, of Howe, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015. Billy was born January 7, 1931, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Earl and May (Allread) Hudgins. He worked as a prison guard for the state of Virginia. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart w/cluster, good conduct medal, National Defense service medal, Korean service medal, combat infantryman badge, United Nations service medal, Silver Star and the Presidential Unit Citation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Glenna Hudgins, and brother, Harvey Hudgins.
Christine Adams, 81, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Wister died Tuesday, February 10, 2015, in Oklahoma City. Christine was born July 11, 1933, in Wister to William David and Gertrude Inez (Call) Covey. She was a sales clerk at C.R. Anthonyâ€™s.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Adams, on Aug. 3, 2008.
