Dakota James McCoy, 15, of Howe died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Leflore.
Dakota was born July 6, 1997, in Talihina. He had just finished his sophomore year at Howe High School where he pitched, played catcher and shortstop on the school baseball team. He also loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, barbara McCoy.

Chieko Pierce, 57, of Cameron died Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Fort Smith, Ark. She was born Jan. 30, 1956, in Urasoe, Okinawa, Japan, to Shoei and Yae Okuma. She was a homemaker.
Joe Matthew Cooper, 61, of Poteau died Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Fort Smith, Ark.. Joe was born July 2, 1951, in San Bernadino, Calif., to Smokey and Juanita M. Cooper. Joe and Smokey Cooper had Cooper’s Furniture and Appliance. He was an avid fisherman. He loved his family and hosting family get-togethers. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Matthew Nelson Cooper; father- and mother-in-law, Bill and La-Dean Ritter.
Randy Thomas Branscum, 54, of Poteau died Sunday, May 19, 2013, in Poteau. Randy was born Oct. 17, 1958, in Loma Linda, Calif., to James Ray and Evelyn Eve (Graham) Branscum. He was the lead operator at Animal Feed Supplement. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael Branscum.
Opheline Myers, 88, of Shady Point died Saturday, May 18, 2013, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Monroe and Jessie (Keeling) Abbott of Ada. Opheline was born Dec. 11, 1924, in Egypt, Okla. Opheline was united in marriage to Curtis Myers on Nov. 11, 1944, at their preacher’s home in Ada. Curtis and Opheline moved to Poteau in 1972, where they opened the Sonic Drive In. Opheline was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
Bobby Dean Doshier, 77, of Spiro died Friday, May 18, 2013, in Fort Smith, Ark. Bob was born March 25, 1936, in Shady Point to Tyde and Opal (Shelton) Doshier. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and he served in Korea. He owned and operated Bob Doshier Trucking. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie; son, Donald J.; and sister, Carol Ann Morgan.
Jessie J. Brand, 90, of Heavener died Friday, May 17, 2013, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Services were held Monday at Trinity Baptist Church. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Heavener, under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home.

Ruth Alice Garrett, 90, died May 16, 2013, in Poteau.
She was born Aug. 7, 1922, in Palestine, Texas, to C.S. and Myrtle (Hughes) Carter. Ruth was the 12th of 13 children and the last to part this earth. She retired from civil service after more than 30 years, working for low-income housing in Talihina. In addition, she worked for lawyers and did taxes for more than 50 years. She was a dedicated member of Prairie Grove Baptist Church for some 70 years.
Jessie Lee Milburn, 62, of Shady Point died Sunday, May 12, 2013, in Colorado Springs, Colo. Jessie was born in California on Sept. 30, 1951. She was proceeded in death by both parents and grandparents.
Bill R. Montgomery, 48, of Poteau died Tuesday, May 14, 2013, in Poteau. Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Evans Chapel of Memories. You may leave an online message at evansandmillerfuneralhomes.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home.
