Mary Elizabeth Thompson Bunch,Â 98, of Keota died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013.Â Â Â Â
Mary was born Oct. 19, 1914, in Dewar to Mary Marlow Thompson and William Franklin Thompson.
Mary ran a small bus station and grocery store in Keota for six years and was the secretary at Beller Mount ChurchÂ for 38 years.Â She was always busy and never slowed down when she was working for the church.Â
Mary also sold Avon in the community, so she knew a lot of people. She was well known and will be greatly missed by all.
Dennis Albert Wells, 64, of Wister died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at the Talihina Veteranâ€™s Center. Dennis was born Dec. 2, 1949, in Elyria, Ohio, to Wade D. and Thelma (Davis) Wells.Â
Dennis, Lance Corporal, U.S. Marine Corps, was a Vietnam veteran and proud of his service to his country. He was a mechanic in California before relocating to Oklahoma where he, alongside his father, successfully ranched for many years. Dennis was a lover of libraries, knowledge and learning and a caring and compassionate man. He was devoted to God and is now once again cradled in his arms.
LaFaye Qualls, 85, of Poteau died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, in Oklahoma City. LaFaye was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Shady Point to Hershel and Blanche Ruby (Williams) Christenberry. She owned and operated the Merle Norman studio and LaFayeâ€™s Beauty Shop until her retirement.
Sr. Master Sgt. Frank P. King Jr., Ret., 79, of Washington, D.C., died Aug. 27, 2013, in Washington.Â
Dica Blair, 86, died Aug. 27, 2013, in Vian. She was born May 13, 1927, in Ola, Ark., to Perry Poe and Mona (Barrick) Poe. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with family and friends and a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Poteau.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather Cephus Whitecotton; her husband, Luther Blair;Â three daughters, Mona Blair, Connie Stewart and Demerris Hamblin; three brothers, Joe Whitecotton, Beacher Whitecotton, Jay Cee Whitecotton; and one sister, Inell Pearson.
A.M. â€śJokerâ€ť Sinclair, 90, of Poteau died Monday, August 26, 2013 in Tulsa. Joker was born April 2, 1923 in Poteau to Earnest Austin and Anna Belle (Aydelott) Sinclair. He worked in construction. Joker was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He served in seven World War II Pacific campaigns, fighting on every island where he was injured. He also served as an MP. He married his wife, Wanda, in Fort Smith, Ark., on Aug 9, 1947. Joker was proud of his military service and of being an American. He loved to garden, growing various things, including watermelon and flowers.
Martha Elizabeth Martin, 45, of Bokoshe died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, in Monroe. Â
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Monroe Cemetery Pavilion with the Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Â

E.G. Falkner, 75, of Howe died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013. Services were held Monday at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener.
Howard Harold â€śDenoâ€ť Roberts, 68, of Heavener died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, in Heavener.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. in the Dowden Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Norma Lois Bailey Mattox, known as â€śMean Momma,â€ť of Howe was born March 28, 1937 in Howe and passed from this life Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, in Howe at the age of 76.
Norma was a lifelong resident of the Howe area, a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office for 26 years, a former school bus driver, oilfield worker and beautician. She was a lover of all sports and loved to watch her children and grandchildren participate in all athletics.
