Iva Marie Spicer, 88, of Spiro died Feb. 3, 2014, in Spiro. She was born June 9, 1925 in Williams, to James Edmond and Ruth Ellen (Laughlin) Brown. She was a retired home health aide.
Iva is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ray Spicer; a daughter, Bonnie Jean Gernand; three brothers, Dez, Ellis and James Brown; four sisters, Etta Brown, Silbeal (Syble) McDuffie, Opal (Connie) Talhelm and Dym Falkner.
Raymond Lee Davis, 53, of Talihina died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, in Talihina.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Ellis Chapel Church in Wister. Burial will be in Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister, under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau. The family will visit with relatives and friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Robert L. Morgan, 79, of Chino, Calif., passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014. He was retired from the California Air National Guard where he had attained the rank of chief master sergeant and also from the Defense Contract Administration Services, where he was a supervisory industrial specialist. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Morgan of Chino.
Joe Carroll Molton, 71, of Shady Point died Tuesday, January 28, 2014, in Shady Point. Joe was born September 13, 1942 in Wellington, Texas., to Oscar and Opal (Gibbons) Molton. He was a welder. Joe helped in the construction of the AES Plant. He loved to restore old cars; he was a member of the Studebaker Club; a member of the Masonic Lodge; and a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam as a helicopter crew chief. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon Kingery Molton; and brothers, W.L. and Archie Molton.
Smith Montgomery, 65, of Wilburton died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, in Wilburton. He was born Sept. 27, 1948, in Plattsburg, Miss., to William and Lula Lee (Ford) Montgomery. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart; retired from OGE after 25 years of service and was dedicated to Special Olympics.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Wendell Montgomery, John Montgomery and Tom Montgomery.
Lavera Ellen Smith, 87, of Shady Point died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro. Burial will be in Old Bokoshe Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Phyliss Ann Bushman, 58, of Talihina died Thursday, Jan. 23, in a Tulsa hospital.
Services were held Monday, Jan. 27, at TalihinaÂ First Assembly of God. Burial was in New Talihina Cemetery under the direction of Burkhart Funeral Service, Talihina.
Earl Cody â€śBuddyâ€ť Rhodes, 89, of Talihina died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, in Talihina.
Buddy was born July 30, 1924 in Centrahoma to Earl Hudson and Dorothy (Jordan) Rhodes. He was retired as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Buddy was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Lakeview Church in Spiro and a member of FOE (Eagles) of Spiro. He enjoyed watching baseball, particularly the New York Yankees, and sports on TV. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Hilliard.
Mona â€śMozelleâ€ť Gaither, 90, of Poteau died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, in Mannford.
Mozelle was born Nov. 22, 1923, in Poteau to Curtis and Mattie (Griffith) Garrett. She retired from Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa. Mozelle was a member of Community of Christ in Poteau. She loved to travel, watching sports on TV (especially football). Mo zelle was a very caring, loving and thoughtful lady. She had many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles J. Gaither; sisters, Louise Akins and Mamie Jo Garrett; brothers, Woodrow and Monroe Garrett; grandson, Chuck Davison.
Marydean â€śMissyâ€ť Goforth, 45, of Howe died Jan. 17, 2014. She was born Sept. 19, 1968.
Marydean was preceded in death by her parents, Tip and Francis Goforth, and a brother, Gary Goforth.
She is survived by one sister, seven brothers, 17 nieces and nephews; 41 great-nieces and nephews; three great-great-nieces and nephews; numerous other family members, friends and loved ones.
The family will hold a remembrance service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, in the Howe School Cafeteria.
