Trixie M. Orendorff, 99, of Poteau died Thursday, March 22, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. Trixie was born May 23, 1912, in Hanson to Grover and Eva (Boothe) Lessley. She was a sales clerk. She and O.M Orendorff were married Feb. 27, 1973. He preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Gailya Lea Miller, and granddaughter, Karen.

Kermit Haskell Christian, 66, of Fort Smith, Ark., formerly of Leflore, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, in Fort Smith. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 26, at Leflore Cemetery Pavilion, Leflore, with Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
Stella Marie Gorham, 94, of Bakersfield, Calif., formerly of Spiro, died March 15, 2012, in Bakersfield. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 24, at Cowlington Cemetery, Cowlington, with Minister Gary James officiating. Grace Manor Funeral Home, Spiro, is handling arrangements.
Fred Allan Johnson, 74, of Poteau died Thursday, March 22, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Fred was born Dec. 14, 1937, in Kaiser, Ark., to Linzy and Nolus (Ferguson) Johnson. He worked as a prison guard.
Survivors include his sons, David Johnson and Jody Johnson of Texarkana, Texas.; daughter, Sherri Roark of Russellville, Ark.; two brothers, Don Johnson of Poteau and Retus Johnson of Apple Valley, Calif.; sister, Patricia Salway of Panama; numerous nieces and nephews, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; other relatives and loved ones; many beloved friends. No services are scheduled.
Carolyn Sue Schaefer, 51, of Poteau died March 17, 2012, in Spiro. She was born Jan. 28, 1961, in Cameron to Thomas Gene Wilson and Esta (Perkins). She was a cook.
She was preceded in death by her father, one brother and one sister.
Hazel Lee Jenkins, 89, of Poteau died Thursday, March 22, 2012, in Poteau.
Hazel was born in McCurtain on Aug. 27, 1922, to Charles Benjamin and Lorena Bell (Crabtree) Barkley. She was a homemaker. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, L. Howard “Jr.” Jenkins; daughters, Brenda D. Thompson and Ola Dean Webb; son, Kenneth D. Rogers; sister, Vivian Poe; and brothers, Marvin Barkley and Othel Barkley.

Jean Anne Ford Perry, 80, of Spiro died Sunday, March 18, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. A funeral mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Spiro, under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Billie Joe Basinger Sr., 83, of Mountain Home, Ark., died Sunday, March 18, at his home.
Funeral services will be private.
He was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Monroe, the son of Thomas and Flora May Loyd Basinger. He married Barbara Robertson on March 16, 1988, at Texarkana, Ark., and worked as a millwrite for The Pine Bluff Arsenal. Billie was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Billie lived in Mountain Home since 1989, moving from Pine Bluff. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing and working with his hands.

Betty Cheatham, 84, of Talihina died Sunday, March 18, 2012, in Talihina. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 23, at the New Talihina Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Arvin Richardson, 84, of Whitesboro died Saturday, March 17, 2012, in Spiro. Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 20, at Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
