Allen Andrew Kersh, 95, of Shady Point died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, in Pocola.
Allen was born June 14, 1919, in Cowlington to Rufus Hugh and Maude (Jones) Kersh. He was a minister for more than 50 years, a carpenter, the Shady Point Fire Chief, a sharecropper and farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorene on Jan. 4, 2001; grandson, Shawn Kersh; great-grandson, Buddy Burleson; great-granddaughter, Alesha Billy; five brothers and three sisters.
Charles William â€śBillâ€ť James, 60, a retired Tulsa public school teacher, formerly of Poteau died Thursday, Jan. 22, in Tulsa.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Irene James of Poteau.
Bill is survived by his wife, Elisabeth James; sons, Andrew, Christopher and Vincent; daughter, April Rose of Broken Arrow; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and David Stimson of Wyoming; brother, Michael James of Poteau; and niece, Allie James of Poteau.
Serenity Funerals and Crematory of Tulsa is handling arrangements.
Robert E. Lee Pierce, 90, of Shady Point died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, in Shady Point.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Calhoun Baptist Church with Brother Steve Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Cameron. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Evans and Miller Funeral Home
Freda Fonzell Armstrong, 74, Poteau died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, in Poteau.
Freda was born Jan. 7, 1941 in Poteau to Bill and Ocie Bell (Harris) Walker. She was a 30-year dedicated Walmart employ-ee. She was a member of the Poteau Church of Christ. Freda was preceded in death by her father, Bill Walker; and brother, Billy Walker.
Joshua Wayne Black, 33, of Fort Smith, Ark., died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, in Fort Smith.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Evans and Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Pocola with burial in Macedonia Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Hilda Reese, 70, of Spiro died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Flower Hill Pentecostal Church in Flower Hill. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Richard Wayne Fugate, 45, of Poteau died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, in Fort Smith, Ark. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, in Evans Chapel of Memories with burial in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau. Family visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Evans and Miller Funeral Home.
Peter Boaz McCulley, 30, of Hodgen died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, in Tulsa.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home in Heavener. Burial will be in Hodgen Cemetery. Family Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Jay Kennedy, 77, of Talihina died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, in Fort Smith, Ark. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, in the Â Buffalo Valley School Auditorium with Brother Chester Cooley officiating. Â Burial will be in Laura-McGee cemetery under the direction of Burkhart Funeral Service, Talihina.
Bobby Dean Hamner, 76, of Talihina died Monday, January 19, 2015, in Talihina.
He was born Aug. 28, 1938, at Reichert to Cleave and Ruth (Milligan) Hamner. He was retired from the U.S. Army where he served as a medic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Margaret Hamner; brother, John Hamner; and sister, Aline Luman.
