Earl Q. Shipley, former Fort Smith businessman and beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away Jan. 6, 2012, at his home in Oro Valley, Ariz., with his loving wife of 53 years, Sharon, at his bedside.
January 19th
Donald Eugene Parker, 65, of Heavener died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, in Heavener. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at First Baptist Church, Heavener, under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home, Heavener.
Harold Lee Hansen Sr., 85, of Spiro, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, in Poteau. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Evans Chapel of Memories. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Panama, under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
Louis Halcomb, 71, died Jan. 18, 2012 in Booneville, Ark.
Louis was born Oct. 6, 1939, in Spiro to Mason Louis and Mary M. (Atchison) Halcomb. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jean, and one grandchild, Jeanie Owens. Louis served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1959 and was discharged under honorable conditions.

William “Billy” Sebo, 74, of Spiro died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012. Private family services are planned. Mallory-Martin Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
George Aaron Williams, 89, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at home surrounded by his family. George was preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Henryetta Williams, 13 siblings, and daughter, Carolyn Scheiber.Â
January 13th
William “Buddy” Leaton Guinn Jr., 69, of Heavener died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, in Poteau. Buddy, a lifelong area resident, was born Feb. 14, 1942, in Heavener to William Leaton and Melva (Welton) Guinn.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Heavener, lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam era. A 1960 graduate of Heavener High School, Buddy attended business college in Oklahoma City before joining the Navy. He was a well-known and liked plumber in the area.
Iris Mae Goins McCullough, 80, a native of Cameron, was born to Dock L. Goins and Lydia V. Crenshaw on April 29, 1931.
Iris died on Jan. 2, 2012. She attended Poteau High School and moved to California in 1949. She met her future husband, James T. McCullough and married in Atwater, Calif., in August, 1949.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James; son, Jeffrey; and grandson, Jeffrey. She is also preceded in death by her three brothers and one sister, Clyde, Woodrow and Harvey and Irene.
January 12th
Mildred D. Kelly, 89, of Spiro died Wednesday, Jan. 11. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Mallory-Martin Chapel of Spiro under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Otis Green, 70, of Fort Coffee died Monday, Jan. 7, 2012. He was born May 3, 1941, at Lenapah to William and Adeline (Shoat) Green. He was a retired mechanic for John Deere. He was proceeded in death by his parents and one brother, Billy Clayton.
Otis is survived by two brothers. Chester Green of Independence, Kan., and Earl Green of Fort Coffee; three sisters, Mary Scott of Wichita, Kan., Devola Shepard of Wichita, Kan., and Doris Clayton of Kansas City, Mo.Â
Pallbearers will be Jesse Hutchinson, James Jones Jr, Ricky Henson, Herbert Flynn Jr. and Albert Tabut.
