John Schleupner, 64, of Poteau died Monday, June 18, 2012, in Poteau. John was born September 21, 1947, in New Jersey.Â He worked at OK Foods Inc. in Fort Smith, Ark., as Director of Quality Assurance since 1993.
Survivors include his mother, Lillian Schleupner of Springfield, N.J.; brother and sister-in-law, WarrenÂ and Eleanor Schleupner of Mocksville, N.C.; their two children, Heather Schleupner of Mocksville and son, James Wallace of Chicago; uncle, George Ilg of New Jersey; aunt, Maria Franzo of New Jersey; cousins, Andy and Jeannie Schleupner of New Jersey.Â
Garon Donavan Mead, 30, of Hodgen died Sunday, June 17, 2012, in Heavener. Garon was born Nov. 21, 1981, in Tulsa to Tommy Joe and Deborah Jean Mead.Â Garon was a pipeline welder.Â Garon was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ada Jones; paternal grandparents, Jack and Verlon Mead; uncles, Johnny andÂ Bob Allen Jones.
Shirley Ann Gordon, 57, of Fort Smith, Ark., died Thursday, June 14, 2012. Services were held Monday at Mallory Chapel under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro.
Beverly Ann â€śMomoâ€ť Peters, 77, of Poteau died Saturday, June 16, 2012, in Poteau.Â Beverly was born in Poteau on Aug. 25, 1934, to Amos and Pearl (Bridges) Rowley.Â She was a member of First Baptist Church in Poteau. She was owner of Randco Tool and Mold.Â Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob â€śOdieâ€ť Peters; son, Randy Peters; and brother, Donald Amos Rowley.
Thomas Earl Graham died at his home in El Reno on Thursday, June 7, 2012. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, in Veterans National Cemetery in Houston.
Thomas was born Aug. 18, 1929 in Tulsa. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Marine Corps. He lived in Poteau for 20 years, Anchorage, Alaska, for 20 years, and in various places in Oklahoma and Texas for 43 years. He retired as a superintendent with BP Oil. Thomas was very artistic, drawing, painting and making wood carvings. He also was a gold mining enthusiast.
Dave J. Monks, 86, of Panama died Thursday, June 14, 2012, in Poteau.Â Dave was bornÂ Jan. 18, 1926, in Tahona to Dave Sr. and Minnie H. (Robinson) Monks.Â He was a homebuilder.Â He was of the Baptist faith.Â Dave was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army.Â He served in the China-Burma Theater in Troop A of the 124th Cavalry Regiment which was part of the MARS Task Force during 1943-45.Â He was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge.Â
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred Monks and W.C. Monks; sister, Viola Butler; and grandson, Shon Pilkington.
Don Howard Lee, 72, of Wister died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, in Wister.Â Don was born Nov. 1, 1939,Â in Scurry County, Texas, to Charles V. and Alice (Merritt) Lee.Â Don was retired from Dowell Schlumberger Oil Company.Â He was a member of First Step of Faith Church in Poteau since 2005. Â Â Don was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Harold E. Cox, 75, of Summerfield died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in Summerfield.Â He was born Aug. 21, 1936, at Summerfield to John Christopher and Ora (White) Cox. He was a retired glazier from the construction industry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife and mother of his children, Bonnie (Crusha) Cox; four brothers, Orb, Ivan, Dale and J.C. Cox Jr.; and a sister, Reba Loyd
Mack D. â€śSkipperâ€ť Stout, 63, died Wednesday, June 6 at his home in Poteau. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
George Leon Brown, 80, of Spiro died Monday, June 11, 2012. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro.
