Marie M. Ford, 79, of Wister, formerly of Norman died Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in Fort Smith, Ark. Marie was born in Wister on Dec. 9, 1934, to George H. and Marie (Harmon) Henson. She retired from Little Axe School as librarian after 17 years. She was also a homemaker who loved to cook and loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing and camping in the deer woods with her extended family. She will be greatly missed. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Burton Ford; four brothers and four sisters.
Mary Ella Washburn, 86, of Dayton, Tenn., died Friday, Jue 20, 2014. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 27, in Heavener Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home.
Donald K. Gavin Sr., 54, of Benton, Ark., died Thursday, June 19, 2014, in Benton. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Greenhill Cemetery Pavilion in Cameron under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
Eugene Gardner, 93, of Oklahoma City died Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Talihina. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Lawton, under the direction of Burkhart Funeral Service,Â Talihina.
Sharla Ann Shirley, 36, of Branch, Ark., died Monday, June 23, 2014. She was born August 11, 1977, in Poteau to the late Evelyn Pendergrass. She also was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ellis Pendergrass, and her brother, Tony Dale Pendergrass.
Sharla was a 1997 graduate of Cameron High School in Cameron. She was a beautiful woman, loving mother, wife, daughter and sister.
Velma L. Timbs, 76, of Wister died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Velma was born Nov. 2, 1937, in Howe to Estle and Carrie (Harris) Stacy. She worked in a bakery. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Guy; daughter, Patricia White; and siblings.
Jacob Cannon Freeman, infant, died Sunday, June 22, 2014.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Alta Wilson, 83, of Spiro died June 23, 2014, in Midwest City. She was born March 11, 1931, in Keota to Henry Madison and Fairy Syuillar (Renis) Brammer. She was a homemaker.Â
She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, John E. Wilson; two sons, Donald Ray Miller and Jerry Wilson; brother, John Brammer; and sister Lillie Byrd.
Joe Anthony Bunch, 52, of Pocola died Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Laird Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro.
Cristabel (Teeter) Dial Barlow, 102, of Fort Smith, Ark., died Saturday, June 21, 2014. Services were held Monday at Heavener Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home.
