Sherman Phillip Floyd, 88, of Poteau died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, in Poteau.
Sherman was born March 9, 1924, in Tahona to King Philip and Bessie B. (Morrison) Floyd. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He was a retired teacher. Sherman was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poteau. He was preceded in death by his parents, K.P. and Bessie; daughter, Toni Thompson; two sisters, Earlene Sallis of Oklahoma City and Bea Blankenship of Spiro; brother, Ray Floyd. Sherman started coaching in 1949 and was Poteau High School principal from 1972 mto 1986 when he retired.
Harlan George Vinson Sr., 83, of Heavener died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, in Heavener. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in Springhill Baptist Church, Howe. Burial will be in Stapp-Zoe Cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home.
John Cranford, 70, of Whitesboro died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Whitesboro Assembly of God. Burial will be in Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Larry Dale Goodnight, 54, of Poteau died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, in Poteau. Larry was born in Oklahoma City on Jan. 22, 1959, to Marshall and Clarice (Dorey) Goodnight. He was a licensed electrician in heat and air. He was preceded in death by his father, and daughter-in-law, Karlee Goodnight.

Jerry Raymond Prescott, 75, of Pocola died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, in Fort Smith, Ark.Â Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at New Hope Cemetery, Spiro. Family visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Pocola.
Lee Ben Foster, 81, of Poteau died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in Poteau. Lee was born June 2, 1931, in Poteau to Siegel E. and Reola E. (Webb) Foster. He was retired from the US Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret âMargeâ of the home; daughter, Micky S. Foster of Poteau; two sons, Donald L. Foster of Wichita, Kan., Ronald G. Foster of Sapulpa; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Floyd W. Foster of Farwell, Mich.; sister-in-law, Helen Schmid of Mountain Grove, Mo.; and other relatives and loved ones.Â
Clarence Lee âTomâ Hudlow, 55, of Leflore died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, in Tulsa. Tom was born Sept. 7, 1957, in Poteau to James âBoâ and Maudie G. (Grissom) Hudlow. He was a truck driver. Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Maudie G. (Grissom) Hudlow; grandson, Tyler Hamilton; brother, Baby Hudlow; and nephews, Johnathon Hudlow.
Mary Irene Nobles of Poteau died Feb. 14, 2013, in Poteau. She was born June 22, 1930, in Booneville, Ark., to Robert and Nellie (Moore) Phillips. She was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dedicated member of First Baptist Church, Poteau.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ray Phillips, Clarence Phillips, Roy Phillips and Argie Phillips.
Calvin Phillip Hopcraft, 88, of Poteau died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2103, in Fort Smith, Ark. Calvin was born Nov. 1, 1924, in Mansfield, Mass., to Walter and Gertrude (Warner) Hopcraft. He was a petroleum engineer. Calvin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Hopcraft; son, Barton Hopcraft; five brothers and three sisters. Calvin was very involved with the ââsack-lunchââ program at St. Johnâs Episcopal Church in Fort Smith. The program was very near and dear to his heart.
Loy J. Dobbins, 93, of Poteau died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, in Poteau. Loy was born July 30, 1919, in Dadeville, Mo., to Ormal and Eliza (Brotherton) Dobbins. Loy graduated from Dadeville High School and the University of Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Loy married Gertrude Frank July 3, 1959, in Tulsa. He worked at Guaranty Abstract Co. in Tulsa before moving to Poteau in 1971. In Poteau he worked for Logan Abstract Co. and ultimately retired from the Department of Human Services in 1988.
