Albert â€śMarvinâ€ť Ulrich, 87, of Poteau, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Topeka, Kan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a charter pilot and retired salesman from Sears.
He was preceded in death by his birth parents, Charles and Junie Guedrey, who passed away before Marvin was 5 years old, and his adoptive parents, Fred and Lucy Ulrich; his beloved wife, Mary Margaret Ulrich; one son, James Scott Ulrich; and a sister, Charlotte Ramsey.Â
Paul Nelson Johnson
Paul Nelson Johnson, 82, of Leflore, formerly of McAlester, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at the Talihina Veterans Center.
Paul was born on Nov. 30, 1929, in Bristow to Loddie N. and Edith (Alcorn) Johnson.Â He grew up in Bristow and Slick.Â In March 1951 he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in the 14th Air Force, 323rd Bomb Wing, until his honorable discharge on Aug. 24, 1952.
Maxine McCoy, 64, of Poteau died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, in Tulsa. Maxine was born Oct. 7, 1948, in Page to Isaac and Cordia (Graham) Jones. She was head cook at Poteau Upper Elementary for 34 years. Maxine was dearly loved and was a great member of the community.Â She loved to sit on her porch with her grandchildren. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin McCoy; her parents; grandson, Jacob â€śJakeâ€ť Freeman; brothers, Leo and Billy Jones; brother-in-law, Hank Holt.
Iva D. Salsman, 84, of Panama died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, in Panama.Â Iva was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Birdstown, Tenn., to Dennis Rudolph and Nora (Sells) Bradley.Â Iva and her husband, James, owned and operated a service station for years in New Mexico.
Iva is survived by her son, Jim Salsman, and wife Jolene of Panama; daughter, Linda Golleher, and husband Danny of Panama; sister, Margaret Goen; andÂ brother, Eugene Bradley of Albuquerque, N.M.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
No services are scheduled at this time.
Robert â€śStanâ€ť Werline, 57, of Poteau died October 6, 2012, after a yearlong battle with cancer.
Stan was born Aug. 23, 1955, in Texas. He lived over 45 years in southern California and was a licensed contractor holding licenses in four trade specialties He lived by the mantra of â€śStand Strongâ€ť and maintained an abiding faith and trust in God.
Alvie Alfred McClain went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, while at the Talihina Veterans Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one son and three sisters.
Raymond Edward Glenn, 70, of Howe, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, in Howe Raymond was born Jan. 12, 1942 in Wister to Lawrence Edward and Amaytha (Hall) Glenn.
He was a lifelong cattle rancher and quarter horse breeder He always loved telling stories about his life experiences.Â Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, several aunts and uncles and one brother-in-law, Charles Lenard
Sarah Carman Duncan, 45, of Talihina died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Talihina First United Methodist Church. Cremation was arranged by Talihina Funeral Home.
Byg Guinn, 55, of Hodgen died Friday, Oct. 12, at Big Cedar. Services will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Free Will Baptist Church in Big Cedar. Burial will be in Big Cedar Cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home, Heavener.
Henry R. Ivy, 72, of Fort Smith, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, in Greenwood, Ark. Henry was born Aug. 21, 1940, in Spiro to Charlie C. and Annie (Jenkins) Ivy. He was a factory worker.
Henry was preceded in death by Charlie, Annie (Jenkins), George, Laney, Marine, Edward, Sonny, Aline, and Margaret Ivy; three nephews, two nieces; and five sisters-in-law.
