Mary Elizabeth Brookfelt, 78, of Wister died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, in Poteau. Mary was born Feb. 4, 1934, in Wister to Elmer E. and Selma D. (Shelton) Beason. She was a homemaker. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald Lee Brookfelt; sister, Geneva Armstrong and Jeanie Williams; brothers, Joe and Jack Beason.
Jeff Lee â€śChiefâ€ť Batt, 55, of Arkoma died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was born Feb. 7, 1957, at Tahlequah to Richard Lee and Josephine (Bendabout) Batt. He was a heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Laura Gooley.
Linda Sue Farwell, 60, of Spiro died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, in Fort Smith, Ark.Â Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, in Shady Point Cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
Betty Catherine Petefish, 76, of Van Buren, Ark., died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, in Van Buren.Â Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan, 18, at Poteau Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Parsley officiating.Â Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Fort Smith (Ark.) National Cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.

Margaret Ann Hamner, 70, of Poteau died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, in Poteau. She was born Feb. 21, 1942, at Bengal to George and Dorothy (Cogburn) Cannon. She was a homemaker
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Delbert Cannon and Benny Cannon.
Jay P. Shelton, 89, of Shady Point died Dec. 23, 2012, in Pocola. Jay was born March 13, 1923, in Shady Point to Noah and Lula (Winters) Shelton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jay was a brick mason. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Ilene Shelton; thee sisters, Doris Marie Adams, Marvaline Duck, Rosa Lee Killion; and four brothers, L.B., Million â€śMitt,â€ť Donald and Jackie Dale Shelton.
Survivors include Ronald Dean and Doris Shelton of Shady Point; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.
Brenda Lee Reece, 64, of Poteau, passed away with her family by her side Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, in Poteau. Brenda was born Aug. 10, 1948, in Modesto, Calif. to Bill â€śJ.D.â€ť and Lorene (Williams) Gibson. She was a homemaker. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, and sons Michael Wade and Olen James Reece. Brenda was loved by all who knew her, loved her family more than anything and loved spending time with her husband on the back of his Harley. Ride on Brenda ... Ride on ....
