Jack Dempsey Duncan, 93, of Poteau, formerly of Heavener, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, in Pocola.
Dempsey, a longtime area resident, was born Jan. 7., 1919, in Watts to Albert and Magnolia Parmallee â€śNoleâ€ť (Rhodes) Duncan. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Heavener, a U.S. Army World War II veteran and retied after 40 years as a KCS Railroad engineer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Reta Faye (Bowen) Duncan; and son, Norris Lee Duncan.
William Eugene Caldwell, 72, of Bokoshe died Thursday, April 5, 2012, in Bokoshe. He was born Sept. 7, 1939, at Milton, to Juanita Ina (Fox) Culwell and William Hershel Culwell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Bokoshe First Baptist Church and a greenskeeper for golf courses.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Kyle Caldwell; step-fathers, Tommie Simpson and John Baggs; sister, Loretta (Culwell) Fowler; brother-in-law, Loyal Fowler; and sister Dolores (Simpson) Best.
Kathy Ellen Engles, 52, of Poteau died Thursday, April 5, 2012 inÂ Fort Smith, Ark.
Kathy was born Aug. 17, 1959, in Poteau to Eldon Leroy and Judy Mae (Mabry) Foster.Â She was an office manager.Â Kathy was preceded in death by her father and grandmother, Lorene Mabry.
Johnny Pipkins, 57, of Pocola died Tuesday, April 3, 2012, in Pocola.Â Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 6, at Evans Memorial Chapel in Pocola.Â Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery.
Mary Hann, 85, of Talihina died Friday, March 30, 2012, in Talihina. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 2, at the Talihina Church of Christ. Burial will be in New Talihina Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Debbie DeAun Bowen, 41, of Heavener died Saturday, March 31, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel, Heavener. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Heavener.
Rudolph Carpenter, 81, of Wister died Sunday, April 1, 2012, in Wister.Â Rudy was born July 12, 1930, in Red Oak to Walter C. and Lydia (Dodd) Carpenter.Â He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.Â Rudy owned a barber shop in Wister for over 50 years.Â He had cut as many as five generations of the same familyâ€™s hair.
Jack Vinson, 73, of Wister, formerly of Heavener, died Friday, March 30, in Wister. Jack was born July 17, 1938, in Stapp to Albert and Christine (Dorsey) Vinson. He was a member of Heavener First Baptist Church, a KCS Railroad retiree, Heavener High School graduate and Vietnam veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Caleb Wayne Rose Sr., 35, of Pocola, died Monday, March 19, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.Â A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at Grace Manor Memorial Chapel, Poteau.Â Cremation services are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home.
Barbara Sue Nelson, 70, of Cowlington died Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at Cowlington Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro.
