Daisy Mae Green

Daisy Mae Green, infant daughter of Tommy and Mary Louise (Readman) Green, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, in Tulsa. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Karen Mitchell and great grandfather, Dud Lightfoot. 
Daisy is survived by her parents of Spiro; sisters, Vanessa and Dominique Green of Spiro; grandparents, Judy and James Crabtree of Sallisaw; great grandmother, Dora Frisbee of California; numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, at Keota Cemetery with Rev. Don Steele officiating.

Gail Hobbs Moore

Gail Hobbs Moore, formerly of Poteau and Tulsa, died on May 19, 2012, in Valley Park, Mo. She was 92. She was born Aug. 8, 1919, in Russellville, Ark., where she attended high school. She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, James Robert “Jimmy” Moore, who died in 1965. Gail and Jimmy spent many happy years in Poteau and were active in The First Methodist Church and in school activities with their five children. Gail was also preceded in death by her mother, Norma Campbell Hobbs; father, Earl Roberts Hobbs; sister, Harriette Hobbs Pattie; and brother, George Hall Hobbs.

Allan A. Guinn

Allan A. Guinn of Spanaway, Wash., formerly of Poteau, died Sunday, June 24, 2012. Allan, better known by his nickname “Jiggs” as he grew up on Lus Holton’s big farm near Cameron during the Depression, was born on July 5, 1925, to Bert Sr. and Mable V. (Pool) Guinn in Poteau.

Maxine Geraldine “Jerry” Miller

Maxine Geraldine “Jerry” Miller of  Monroe died Thursday, June 28, 2012, in Poteau. Jerry was born Dec. 30, 1919, in Roswell, N.M., to  Tom and Leona (Anderson) Fortner. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul X. Miller; sister, Clara Murphee; brothers, V.I. Fortner and Ed Fortner

Audrey Jean Jurgens, 73, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Monday, June 25, at Jamestown Nursing and Rehab in Rogers, Ark. She was born on June 23, 1939, in Milbank, S.D., to Raymond Siewert and Mildred Rolstad Siewert.

Roberta Adams, 87, of Poteau died Saturday, June 23, 2012, in Poteau.  Roberta was born Aug. 25, 1924 in Poteau to Byron and Ersy (Oliver) Plummer. She was a homemaker. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Denver Adams; grandson, Keith Spangler; and her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Mattie Adams of Poteau; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Paul Spangler, Linda and Dean Garrison of Poteau; grandchildren, Heith Williams, Deana Donathan, Jeana Heist and P.D. Spangler; nine great grandchildren; other relatives and loved ones.

Alice Jean Martin

Alice Jean Martin, 73, a determined but generous, practical and caring mother and grandmother, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, in Midland, Texas.
Born Aug. 21, 1938, in Leflore to Minnie and Sol Kitchens, Alice was the ultimate civil servant, retiring from the Social Security Administration after many years of faithful service and also following the love of her life, Billy Martin, across the world throughout his 20-plus years of service in the Army.

Dorothy Maxine Jones, 76, of Brushy Mountain died Friday, June 22, 2012. Graveside services will held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 25, at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro.

Betty Florence Hackney, 79, of Heavener died Thursday, June 14, 2012, in Heavener. Viewing will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Dowden Funeral Home, Heavener. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at her favorite fishing hole on Wister Lake.

John Schleupner

John Schleupner, 64, of Poteau died Monday, June 18, 2012, in Poteau. John was born September 21, 1947, in New Jersey. He worked at OK Foods Inc. in Fort Smith, Ark., as Director of Quality Assurance since 1993.
Survivors include his mother, Lillian Schleupner of Springfield, N.J.; brother and sister-in-law, Warren  and Eleanor Schleupner of Mocksville, N.C.; their two children, Heather Schleupner of Mocksville and son, James Wallace of Chicago; uncle, George Ilg of New Jersey; aunt, Maria Franzo of New Jersey; cousins, Andy and Jeannie Schleupner of New Jersey.
