To say that the Poteau Pirates football team was disappointed in last week's 41-7 loss at Sallisaw is an understatement.
When visiting the Pocola High School football fieldhouse at John Carter Field, on the south wall is a digital clock which has been counting down the days until the rivalry game between the Indians and the Panama Razorbacks.
Now, that clock will read just mere hours until kickoff of tonight's installment of the rivalry game, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. tonight at John Carter Field.
After a week off, the Bokoshe Tigers will return to the gridiron tonight.
The Tigers (1-5, 0-4 in District C-4) will try to get their first district victory when they entertain the Bluejacket Chieftains (2-4, 1-3) at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
The Heavener Wolves got what may have been the biggest win in quite a while last Friday night, beating the Talihina Golden Tigers 27-13 at Doc Robinson Stadium.
“It was a good win for the kids,” Heavener Coach John Thompson said. “The kids went in and played like they were supposed to. They played like they wanted to win. They started out that way, and they never let up. It was the best game we've played this year.”
The bad news is that the Wolves have to wait a week before getting to play again. For the second straight season, the Tahlequah Tigers junior varsity canceled out on them.
