Talihina football team looking to rebound Thursday night at Wilburton

The Talihina Golden Tigers have lost their last two regular-season games, which also were District 2A-6 contests.
After losing last week 27-14 at Doc Robinson Stadium to the Heavener Wolves, the Golden Tigers (5-2, 1-2 in district play) will look to end their losing streak with a 7:30 p.m. Thursday contest on the road against the Wilburton Diggers (4-3, 3-0).

Heavener cross country teams qualify for state; Lady Wolves sixth, Wolves seventh at Saturday's Class 3A Regional Meet

COWETA — With the Heavener High School cross country program returning to full strength this season, it only seemed appropriate that the Lady Wolves and Wolves qualified for the biggest meet of the year — state.
The Heavener teams qualified everyone to next weekend's Class 3A State Meet by finishing in the top seven in team standings at the Class 3A Regional Meet on Saturday.

Poteau cross country runners perform well at Chili Pepper Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Poteau High School cross country coach Tim Hall was very pleased with how his Pirates and Lady Pirates did in Saturday's University of Arkansas Chili Pepper Invitational.
Of his eight varsity runners, Hall had six of them have personal bests — Will Longenbaugh (19:40), Dylan Fox (19:47), Tyler White (19:54), Bobby Graham (20:10), Josh Anderson (20:11) and Noah Martin (20:53).
Daniel Stacy had the fastest time for the Pirates with a 19:23, while Nico Hall ran the 5K course in 19:55.

Tulsa gets win, but not satisfied with performance

ght's Tulsa Golden Hurricane's Conference USA contest against the Alabama-Birmingham Blazers at Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium, it appears on the outside that Tulsa had a fairly easy time — winning 37-20.
But for those who either were in attendance or watched on it the CBS College Sports Network, they know what really happened.

Black Diamonds' second-half surge crushes Pirates

SALLISAW — The Poteau Pirates played the Sallisaw Black Diamonds just about as close as they could in the first half of Thursday night's District 4A-4 game Perry F. Lattimore Stadium. They allowed Sallisaw a very quick touchdown to begin the game, but then held the Diamonds scoreless for the rest of the first half with the exception of a highly debatable 30-yard field goal, which the Pirates queried.

Heavener Wolves shock Talihina

TALIHINA — Heavener Coach John Thompson said the key for his Wolves to pull off the upset in Friday night's District 2A-6 game against the Talihina Golden Tigers at Doc Robinson Stadium was to score first — and have a positive start to the game. He got his wish.
The Wolves took advantage of a turnover and scored on their first two possessions of the contest to pull off the upset over the Golden Tigers by a score of 28-13.

Arkoma Mustangs charge their way past Midway

ARKOMA — The Arkoma Mustangs took another step in their quest for a District C-4 championship Friday night remaining undefeated and mercy ruling the Midway Chargers 86-36 at home.

Seminole Chieftains handle Spiro

SPIRO — On one hand, Friday night's District 3A-8 game between the Seminole Chieftains and the Spiro Bulldogs at McClain Stadium probably should have been more lopsided than it was.
Seminole is a good passing team, and it seemed like Spiro was running a zero coverage on the back end of its defense. At least three times, a Chieftan was running free and simply let the ball fall through their hands.

Vian Wolverines defeat Panama

VIAN — The Vian Wolverines kept the Panama Razorbacks winless as they posted a 57-7 victory Friday night in a District 2A-6 contest.
