There's no better way to end the fast-pitch softball season for LeFlore County than the way it did Saturday afternoon at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. The Panama Lady Razorbacks won the Class 2A State Tournament.
The only other way things could have ended better would have been to see the Wister Wildcats win the Class A Fall State Tournament and the Poteau Lady Pirates make this week's Class 4A State Tournament — and win it.
GREENWOOD, Ark. — Three Heavener Wolves cross country runners medaled at Saturday's Greenwood Invitational for finishing in the top 20.
Jose Farias was fifth (19:01.2), Arturo Ortega was 18th (20:07.9) and Dakotah McGee was 19th (20:13.3).
The Wolves' other runner, Octavio Sanchez, was 41st (22:17.3).
For the Lady Wolves, they had three runners, paced by Araceli Farias who was 22nd (25:10.3). Johna Enger was 25th (25:39.1) and Caitlin Carson was 32nd (26:50.7).
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Every football fan has heard the old adage, "Defense wins championships." But your signal caller can also make a huge difference in whether your favorite football team wins or loses. Quarterback play and defense won the game for the Arkansas Razorbacks against the Auburn Tigers on Saturday night at Razorback Stadium.

POCOLA — The Pocola Indians showed grit, guts and determination Friday night beating their district rivals, the Talihina Golden Tigers, 34-33 in a District 2A-6 thriller on homecoming at John Carter Field.
The game winner came when Devon Johnson hit Colton Hamm for a 22-yard touchdown catch with eight seconds remaining left to play. Cody Young's conversion was good for the deciding point.
For the past three weeks, the Poteau Pirates have drawn a trio of thoroughbreds in Gravette, Ark., Hilldale and Tulsa Webster. That trio of teams were launching passes from all over the field, and, in most cases, they were being answered.
MAUD — The Arkoma Mustangs are now in the driver's seat in the District C-4 race. The Mustangs ended up mercy ruling the Maud Tigers 62-14 to set themselves up for a pivotal district contest at 7:30 p.m. next Friday at home against Midway.
HUGO — The Spiro Bulldogs won for the second straight week as they posted a 30-12 win over the Hugo Buffaloes Friday night.
BOKOSHE — The Bokoshe Tigers welcomed the Prue Rockets to town for a District C-4 game Friday night, and suffered a 34-0 shutout.
HEAVENER — The Heavener Wolves hung tough, but they suffered a 20-7 loss to the Wilburton Diggers in District 2A-6 action Friday night at Harvey Stadium.
The Diggers (4-2 overall, 3-0 in district play), winners of four straight, scored 14 points in the opening period, but the Heavener defense held strong the rest of the first half.
The lone score for the Wolves (1-5, 0-3), losers of four straight, was a 57-yard touchdown pass reception by Shaun Bradley to cut the deficit to 13-7, but that was as close as the Wolves got.
PANAMA — The Panama Razorbacks will have to wait another week to try to get their first win of the season, and snap their now 16-game losing streak.
The Hogs suffered a 59-7 loss to the Hartshorne Miners in a District 2A-6 game Friday night at George Ollie Stadium.
