He got his wish as the Mustangs will entertain Covington-Douglas at 7:30 p.m. tonight in an opening-round Class C playoff game at Mustang Field.
“It feels good to get back there again,” he said. “It's been fun, and I'm looking forward to (tonight) — I can't stop thinking about it. I have butterflies thinking about it — but in a good way.”

Heavener running back glad to experience playoffs

November 11, 2011

HEAVENER — At this time a year ago, the Heavener Wolves had checked in their football equipment since the 2010 season ended at Week 10. That's not the case this year.
The Wolves finished fourth in District 2A-6 to make the playoffs, which makes junior running back Blake Smittle a happy camper.
“It feels good,” Smittle said. “It's the first time for me to be in the playoffs. It's a new experience for most of us. I'm excited for it. I'm ready.”

Heavener looks to keep dream season going, meets No. 3 Stroud Tigers to begin Class 2A playoffs

November 11, 2011

HEAVENER — One goal the Heavener Wolves set out to accomplish this 2011 football season was to make the playoffs — and they did.
“You can never overlook the first game (of the season), and all the way up to the last game,” Heavener Coach John Thompson said. “You just have to take them one game at a time. We're one of those teams that made it. We got an extra week of practice. We made the playoffs, and that's a plus right there.”
