BOKOSHE — In one last high school basketball match-up of two LeFlore County schools, each one got a win.
The Leflore Savages handled the Bokoshe Tigers 53-4, while the Lady Tigers clawed past the Lady Savages 54-22 Thursday night at Bokoshe Tigers Fieldhouse.
WHITESBORO — The Whitesboro High School basketball teams got a pair of wins Thursday night to enter Thanksgiving Break on a high note.
The Bulldogs got not only their first win of the season, but got new Coach Wayne Tucker his first win as ’Dogs' coach as they clawed the Buffalo Valley Buffaloes 61-39. That came on the heels of a 53-43 come-from-behind victory by the Lady Bulldogs over the Lady Buffaloes.
The Whitesboro Junior High School teams split their games with Buffalo Valley. The Lady Bulldogs won to remain undefeated on the season, but the ’Dogs lost by three points.
The 2011 LeFlore County high school football season end in a rough way on Nov. 11. The county had two teams, the Heavener Wolves in Class 2A and the Arkoma Mustangs in Class C.
Unfortunately for both teams, it was a one-and-done trip to the postseason as the Wolves lost 47-7 in Stroud to Class 2A's third-ranked Tigers, while the eighth-ranked Mustangs suffered a 54-8 loss to No. 6 Covington-Douglas.
But as I reflect on the 2011 LeFlore County high school football season, there will be a lot of things which stand out.
The Boys and Girls Club of LeFlore County will have a basketball tournament for boys and girls in grades three through six Dec. 3-4 at the Pansy Kidd Middle School Gym.
