The old adage says, “Time flies when you're having fun.” For Poteau football referee Max Rowley, nothing could be more true.
Last weekend at the Oklahoma Officials Conference in Oklahoma City, Rowley was given a certificate for his 40 years of being on the field every Friday night.
“I guess the first thing I thought of was that it's hard to believe that I've been calling games for that period of time,” Rowley said. “It's just gone by so rapidly.”
It did not last long, but Mike Trout enjoyed his stay.
Trout, one of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim's top prospects was just sent back down to the team's AA affiliate Arkansas on Monday after he spent about a month with the big-league club.
"Back to Little Rock!,” said Trout, age 19, on Twitter. “(I) had awesome experience up here in Anaheim. Thanks for everything!"
Trout arrived with the Angels on July 8 after starting center fielder Peter Bourjos was injured. Trout started 12 games for the Angels, and hit .163 with a home run and six runs batted in.
