Wister girls sweep Talihina to win 2A District Tournament

WISTER — The Wister Lady Wildcats softball team punched its ticket to next week's Class 2A Regional Tournament.
The Lady Wildcats swept the Talihina Lady Golden Tigers by scores of 13-9 and 3-0 in the Class 2A District Tournament on Wednesday.
The Lady ’Cats (20-12) will find out early next week who, where and when they will play in the regional tournament.
The Lady Golden Tigers (13-12) saw their season come to an end.

Rain postpones Thursday's high school softball playoffs, rescheduled for today

Mother Nature was the winner at several high school softball district tournaments on Thursday.
Rain washed out several high school playoff games, making them rescheduled for today.
The Class 2A District Tournament with Pocola at Panama was rained out Thursday, and will be rescheduled for a doubleheader at 10 a.m. this morning. Panama Coach and Athletic Director Grant Ralls said that if a third game is needed it would be played on Saturday.

Bokoshe girls see season end in Class B District Tournament

McCURTAIN — The Bokoshe Lady Tigers saw their softball season come to an end Wednesday afternoon at the Class B District Tournament.
Host McCurtain defeated Bokoshe 13-1 after the Lady Tigers lost to Panola.
No additional information was reported. The Lady Tigers end the season at 3-11.

Pocola girls win regular-season finale over Sallisaw Lady Black Diamonds

SALLISAW — The Pocola Lady Indians ended the regular season in fine fashion with an 11-5 victory over the Sallisaw Lady Black Diamonds Tuesday afternoon.

Arkoma returns to District C-4 play, entertains Bluejacket

Yes, the Arkoma Mustangs are undefeated at 3-0, and ranked seventh in the Class C Poll. Yes, they won 26-18 over Southwest Christian Academy last week in Norman. But they may not have played their best football game in that win.
Thus, last week's game may have been a wake-up call of sorts for the Mustangs.
“I really think it was frustation at the way they played,” Arkoma Coach Mark Weatherton said. “They were disappointed with their effort and their execution on offense and defense.”

Bokoshe has second non-district game of season, welcomes Eagle Point Christian Academy to town

A true-scrimmage like contest will take place for the Bokoshe Tigers tonight as they welcome Eagle Point Christian Academy to town for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff in a non-District C-4 contest.
The Tigers (0-3) are trying to get Tyler Massey his first win as their new coach.

Heavener begins District 2A-6 play with Hartshorne for Homecoming tonight

The Heavener Wolves are 1-2 after three games, losing their last game 50-0 last Friday night on the road against Paris, Ark.
“They were way too much for us,” Heavener Coach John Thompson said. “It was a non-district game. You want to win every game, but it's not something that counts (toward district standings). They were a very good ball club. They're ranked No. 1 in Class 3A in Arkansas. They were very good. Our kids knew that. The good thing was we came out of the game healthy.”

Panama hopes for Happy Homecoming in District 2A-6 opener against Wilburton

The Panama Razorbacks will hope to end a 13-game losing streak, and in the process make it a Happy Homecoming for everybody, when they entertain the Wilburton Diggers in the District 2A-6 opener at 7:30 p.m. tonight at George Ollie Stadium.
“We're excited,” first-year Panama Coach Brandon Ellis said. “The kids are excited. Being homecoming week, it's been a short week, anyway. I hope we overlook homecoming as a distraction, and start getting ready for Wilburton.”

Pocola, Vian to meet in early District 2A-6 showdown tonight

The Pocola Indians are on a six-game winning streak, dating back to Week 8 of last season. They won last week 15-14 in come-from-behind fashion to down the Quinton Savages. It was a game Pocola Coach Rick Lang described as a “statement win.”
“These kids made the plays to win the game when they needed to,” Lang said. “We had injuries, adversity and everything thrown at us for four quarters. We won the game in the fourth quarter, and our kids made the plays. Our kids wanted it. It was a statement win. We're 3-0, and I think our kids wanted to be 3-0 going into the Vian game.”
