If nothing more comes from Friday night's scrimmage for the Heavener Wolves against Haileyville at 5:30 p.m. at Harvey Stadium, they want to make sure their running game shines.
It's another busy week with three key tournaments. In softball, it's the Lady â€™Back Classic in Panama.
In baseball it's the Eagle Classic in Red Oak for Cameron, Howe and Whitesboro. For the Wister Wildcats, it's the Tournament of Champions in the Union City-El Reno area.
Wister at Poteau, 4 p.m.

Keota at Pocola, 5 p.m.
Arkoma and Howe at Robbers Cave Classic in Wilburton: Howe vs. Canadian, 10 a.m.; Howe vs. Clayton, 1:30 p.m.; Arkoma vs. Wilson, 6:10 p.m.; Arkoma vs. Panola, 8:30 p.m.
KEOTA â€” The Spiro Lady Bulldogs got their season off to a fine start by winning the Keota Invitational Saturday night with a 9-1 win over the Talihina Lady Golden Tigers. It was the second time the Lady Bulldogs beat the Lady Golden Tigers in the tournament as they defeated them in the winner's-bracket final 10-0 earlier in the day.
Spiro (4-0) posted a win over Keota on Friday before beating Talihina in the winner's-bracket final.
HOWE â€” The Howe Lions opened the 2011 fall season in style as they defeated the Kinta Eagles 9-3 Friday at Lions Field.
The second game was rained out.
Cameron 13, McCurtain 1; Cameron 15, McCurtain 0: Friday in McCurtain, the Yellowjackets (3-0) kept perfect on the young season with the sweep.
Battiest 15, Leflore 3: Friday in Leflore, the Panthers spoiled the season opener for the Savages (0-1).
MULDROW â€” The Poteau Lady Pirates won for the second straight time to begin the season as they routed the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs 15-6 Friday afternoon.
Wister 11, Whitesboro 2: In Whitesboro, the Lady Wildcats (1-1) got their first win of the season.
Heavener 7, Westville 2; Heavener 8, Sallisaw-Central 0: At Keys (Park Hill) Festival, the Lady Wolves (4-0) stayed perfect on the young season.
BEGGS â€” The Panama Lady Razorbacks got three strong pitching performances en route to three wins in the Beggs Festival last weekend.
Panama defeated Mannford 5-2 on Friday before having its second game rained out against Haskell. Then, the Lady â€™Backs posted a pair of shutouts on Saturday, beating Preston 8-0 and host Beggs 3-0.
The Poteau and Heavener high school cross country runners got a preseason tune-up for this upcoming season at Saturday morning's Poteau Preseason Practice Meet at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex. Joining the locals were the Haworth Lions and Lady Lions.
In the boys' division, Haworth won the meet with 21 points, with Poteau second (40 points).
