The Poteau Pirates freshmen football team was trying to keep their winning streak intact on a crisp autumn Monday night at Costner Stadium against the Broken Bow Savages.
After a slow start, the Pirates were able to get some big plays en route to a 22-6 victory — and keep their record unblemished.
The Pirates will conclude their season at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday at Costner Stadium as they will entertain the McAlester Buffaloes to try to cap another perfect season. The game will follow the Pansy Kidd Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade games, which will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
GREENWOOD, Ark. — The Poteau Bandit League football teams split their four games Saturday against the Greenwood Blue teams.
The fifth-grade team shut out the opposition 36-0, while the third-grade team edged Greenwood Blue 6-0 in double overtime.
Greenwood Blue took the sixth-grade game 33-12 and the fourth-grade contest 27-6.
