October 22nd
NORMAN — The Oklahoma Sooners did just what they were expected to do against the Kansas Jayhawks Saturday night at Owen Field — picked up an easy 52-7 win.
TULSA — An old sports adage says, “The good teams will find a way to win.” No truer words could have been spoken as dusk approached Saturday at Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium.
After being outplayed, and never ahead, in Saturday afternoon's homecoming football game for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane against the Rice Owls, it took only one play to reverse all that.
October 21st
Sunday Couple Scrambles at Wolf Ridge Golf Course will take place at 2 p.m. Sundays. The entry fee is $15 per person for the nine-hole weekly event.

The second annual Jugz-N-Nutz 7-3 coed softball tournament will take place Saturday at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex.
The entry fee is $150 per team.
The championship team will receive bats and t-shirts, the runners-up will receive a dozen softballs and t-shirts and the Most Valuable Player, both male and female, will receive a plaque and a t-shirt.

Jeff Tadtman, Carl Albert State College women's basketball coach, would like to announce the remainder of his 2012-13 signing class.
Skylar Cooper is a 5-8 freshman shooting guard/small forward from Heavener.
Her ability to make 3-point baskets and her leadership skills will both be big for the Lady Vikings this upcoming season.
“Skylar is a local girl from Heavener who came home, and I am excited to have her,” Tadtman said. “She is probably one of our best 3-point threats. Also, she has good leadership skills. Skylar wants to be good. With her hard work, she should succeed.”
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Roan Ranger made his Remington Park debut in Wednesday’s $30,000 allowance/optional claiming event, handling the one-mile test to wear down rivals in the stretch for victory. Jockey Cliff Berry was up to gain his second win of the night and move closer to 4,000 career thoroughbred wins.
I just got in a deer to process that I've never seen before. I've harvested a bunch of deer, and processed even more deer.
This buck, a nice eight-pointer, was in full velvet when I harvested him on Monday. That is usually unheard of at this time of the year.
Upon closer inspection, I discovered he, or I should say it, had both male and female organs. It was in perfect health, but did not display the normal signs of a buck in mid-October.
October 19th
The postseason has arrived for the Poteau High School cross-country teams as they will run at the Class 4A Regional Meet, which will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.
The top seven teams will automatically qualify for the Class 4A State Meet, which will begin at 10 a.m. Oct. 27 at Edmond Santa Fe High School.
HEAVENER — The dream of any senior high school athlete is to get to state, or play for a state championship. Heavener High School senior cross-country runner Jose Farias has that opportunity Saturday morning.
Farias will be the lone Heavener Wolf to run at the Class 3A State Meet, which will begin at approximately 10:30 a.m. at Shawnee's Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech Center.
Farias qualified for state at last weekend's Class 3A Regional Meet in Henryetta. He strongly believed that his time of 18:49 was going to be good enough to earn him an individual berth to this morning's state meet.
SPIRO — In a battle of Bulldogs Thursday night at McClain Stadium, it was LeFlore County's ’Dogs who had more growl.
Spiro routed the Valliant Bulldogs 42-13 in a District 3A-8 contest to run their winning streak to four games.
