Sometimes even when I get what I ask, it's still not enough.
I asked for three pages for today's edition, and I got them. Still, I didn't have room for two stories which really needed to be put into today's edition.
One of those stories was about the final two days of the Eastern Oklahoma State College Classic, while the other one was Carl Albert correspondent Mark Couch's story about Friday night's CASC home games against Coffeyville, Kan. I'm planning on putting these stories in Wednesday's edition.
OKMULGEE — Several Poteau wrestlers placed in this past weekend's Okmulgee Junior High Tournament.
Bryson Terry (80 pounds), Sam Shore (132) and Roderick Hornbuckle (140) were runners-up in their respective weight classes.
Race Williams (89 pounds) and Ross Johnson (106) placed fourth, while Dale Wright was sixth at heavyweight.
Landon Daily (98 pounds), Allison Hartley (106) and Rae Hendrix (113) won matches but did not place in the tournament.
As a team, Poteau was fourth out of 29 teams.
CAMERON — The Panama High School basketball teams entered this week's inaugural Green Valley Conference Tournament on a high note Friday night as they swept the Cameron teams at the Cameron Gym.
The Razorbacks handled the Yellowjackets 71-53 right after the Lady ’Backs knocked off the Lady ’Jackets 46-32.
GREENWOOD, Ark. — The Spiro Bulldogs basketball team took advantage of the fact that the Hillbillies from Ozark, Ark., did not have their complete team when it came to Friday afternoon's game in the H.B. Stewart Classic, since the Hillbillies played for a state football title on Saturday.
The Bulldogs proved too much for the depleted Hillbillies to post a 67-41 victory.
However, the Lady Hillbillies were able to get a win for Ozark, which downed the Spiro Lady Bulldogs 57-40.
