MIAMI, Okla. — Wilka Montout's 34 points proved to be the difference for the Northeastern A&M College Lady Norse in their 54-40 win over the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings in an Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference game Monday night.
Despite getting 16 points from Jaymere Hadden, it wasn't enough for the Carl Albert State Vikings in their 75-59 loss to the NEO Golden Norsemen in the second game on Monday night.
Several LeFlore County high school basketball teams brought home some championship and consolation championship plaques from last weekend's district and regional tournaments.
In district tournaments, the Poteau Lady Pirates (Class 4A), both Spiro teams (Class 3A), the Howe Lady Lions (Class 2A), the Wister Wildcats (Class 2A) and the Talihina Lady Golden Tigers (Class 2A) all won their respective championships last weekend.
WISTER — If a team has only one lead in a game, that squad hopes it comes at the final buzzer. That wish became true for the Wister Wildcats basketball team Saturday night at the Wister Gym in the Class 2A District Tournament.
Wister's Cody Luman scored a basket as time expired as the Wildcats downed the Howe Lions 42-41 to win the district title.
The girls' title game did not have such a suspenseful ending as the Lady Lions roared right past the Lady Wildcats 74-36 to win the district championship.
Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2012 Poteau High School Sports Hall of Fame.

EUFAULA — The Spiro High School basketball teams began their postseason parade in fine fashion Friday night.
The Lady Bulldogs and ’Dogs swept the Class 3A District Tournament by posting wins over host Eufaula.
The Spiro girls beat the Lady Ironheads 47-43, then the Spiro boys handled the Ironheads 71-53.
Both Spiro teams are one win away from not only playing for a regional title, but making it to next week's Class 3A Area Tournament at Fort Gibson.
HOLDENVILLE — There will be at least one more game for the Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs this basketball season. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Varnum Lady Whippets 45-33 in Saturday afternoon's consolation championship game at the Class B Regional Tournament at Moss High School.
The Lady Bulldogs (16-11) will play Caney at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Class B Area Tournament in Kingston.
However, the news was not as good for the Bulldogs, who lost a heartbreaking 63-54 overtime loss to the host Pirates Friday night in the consolation semifinals to end their season at 10-18.
WILBURTON — The seasons came to an end for the Arkoma Lady Mustangs and the Cameron Yellowjackets Saturday afternoon in the consolation championship game in the Class A Regional Tournament at the new Wilburton Gym.
The Lady Mustangs lost 53-40 to the Allen Lady Mustangs in the girls' consolation title game, then the ’Jackets' valliant comeback fell short in a 50-47 loss to the Boswell Scorpions.
OKLAHOMA CITY — Coming off an emotional overtime win Sunday night against the Denver Nuggets, it would have been no surprise if the Oklahoma City Thunder came out a little flat against the New Orleans Hornets Monday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena. This wasn’t the case, however, as the Thunder took a 60-38 lead at the break and cruised to a 101-93 victory.
