The Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings softball team began the season Tuesday afternoon, now it's the Vikings' turn to hit the diamond.
The CASC Vikings will begin the 2012 season in a home doubleheader against the University of the Ozarks junior varsity beginning at 12:30 p.m. this afternoon at Ival Goodman Field.

The Carl Albert teams will return home Thursday night to face archrival Eastern Oklahoma State College at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse. The women's game will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the men's contest at 8 p.m.
ARKOMA — Thanks to a strong second half, the Arkoma Lady Mustangs ended the regular season in fine fashion with a 64-48 win over the Wister Lady Wildcats Monday night at the Arkoma Gym.
Down 23-20 at halftime, the Lady Mustangs opened the second half with an 8-0 run to take a 28-23 lead.
The Lady Wildcats cut the deficit to two points on two occasions, the last time at 45-43 with about four minutes left in the third quarter. But that was as close as Wister got.
Arkoma went on a 15-0 run to take a 58-43 lead with 2:28 remaining in the period.
PANAMA — Just one week ago, the Panama Razorbacks lost 53-34 to the Cameron Yellowjackets at the Cameron Gym. Monday night, the Hogs avenged that loss at the Panama Gym.
Thanks to a strong third quarter, the Razorbacks upset the ’Jackets 59-51.
Trailing 26-20 at halftime, the Hogs outscored the Yellowjackets in the third quarter by 10 points, 23-13 — which gave Panama a 43-39 lead going into the final period.
