The Tahlequah Lady Tigers used two home runs and 19 hits to outlast the Poteau Lady Pirates 12-6 Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Tigers led from start to finish.
GREENWOOD, Ark. â€” The Poteau Pirates suffered a 6-2 road loss to Greenwood, Ark., Tuesday afternoon.
The Pirates were their own worst enemy as they committed four errors, leading to four of Greenwood's six runs.
Down 3-0 after three innings, Kaydon Evans hit a two-out, RBI single to cut the deficit to 3-1, but Greenwood scored once in the fourth and fifth innings for a 5-1 lead after five innings.
Blake Roley's third home run of the season, a solo shot in the sixth inning cut the Greenwood lead to 5-2, but that was as close as the Pirates got.
WISTER â€” Despite having to move their home game from Howe to Wister Monday, the Howe Lady Lions still produced a 19-6 victory over the Arkoma Lady Mustangs.
The Lady Lions led from start to finish, leading 2-0 after an inning, then scored six runs in the sixth inning â€” four of which came on Alli Ford's inside-the-park grand-slam home run â€” to win by run rule.
Whitesboro 9, Cameron 7; Whitesboro 17, Leflore 2; Cameron 15, Leflore 0: In Whitesboro, the Lady Bulldogs got a pair of wins on their home field.
The Rose State College baseball team was swept at home in a doubleheader by the Carl Albert State College Vikings Saturday afternoon in Midwest City. When the two teams met Tuesday afternoon at Ival Goodman Field, the Midwest City team avenged that home sweep by Carl Albert. Rose State posted wins of 1-0 and 2-1 in Tuesday's twinbill.
After playing a doubleheader in Muskogee against the Bacone College junior varsity on Wednesday afternoon, the Vikings will return home to face Seminole State College in 1:30 p.m. doubleheader this afternoon at Ival Goodman Field.
WARNER â€” The Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings softball team suffered a pair of losses Tuesday afternoon to the Connor State College Cowgirls by scores of 5-1 and 8-5.
The Lady Vikings will return to action at 2 p.m. this afternoon in a road doubleheader against Seminole State College.
The post-Spring Break portion of the season did not begin as hoped for the Poteau High School soccer teams. The Pirates and Lady Pirates suffered losses to the visiting Fort Smith (Ark.) Northside teams Tuesday at Costner Stadium.
The Pirates lost 3-1, which came after the Lady Grizzlies blanked the Lady Pirates 2-0.
HEAVENER â€” It was a great start to the district season for the Heavener High School soccer teams Tuesday at Harvey Stadium.
The Lady Wolves had the more thrilling game of the doubleheader as they had to go into a shootout before getting past Porter Consolidated 3-2.
On the other hand, the Wolves were no match for the Hugo Buffaloes as they won handedly 6-1.
After the Heavener teams entertained Mena, Ark., Wednesday at Harvey Stadium, the Wolves will play in the Stilwell Tournament today and Friday. The Wolves will meet Wagoner at 2 p.m. this afternoon to begin the two-day event.
Archery in the Schools State Tournament was this week. Wister School had three teams that went to Oklahoma City to compete against 21 other teams in their division. The high school team is back again after several years of success, including a third-place finish last year. They have many successful shooters on the team, and are hoping for another good showing at the state level.
