April 27, 2012

Once again, the Poteau Pirates soccer team is playoff bound. The 2012 Class 4A playoffs will begin at 7 p.m. tonight on the road against the Catoosa Indians.
For five Pirate seniors, this marks the stretch drive of their high school soccer careers.
“I really haven't thought about it that way,” forward/midfielder Spencer Hall said. “I guess it's kind of sad, but it's motivating us to try to keep it going for as long as we can.”

Thunder lose 'meaningless' game to Denver Nuggets

April 27, 2012

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma City Thunder had virtually nothing to play for against the Denver Nuggets in their last game (and home game) of the season Wednesday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena. After sitting his starters for the entire fourth quarter Tuesday night against the Sacramento Kings, Oklahoma City Coach Scott Brooks played them in the final quarter against Denver, but it didn’t matter as the Thunder fell to the Nuggets 106-101.
OKC got off to a slow start in the game while Denver got into a groove early, jumping out to a 23-14 lead midway through the first quarter.

A Friday night at Wolf Ridge Golf Course

April 27, 2012

We went to Wolf Ridge Golf Course last Friday night for its famous “Friday Night Steak Dinner.” We sat down with Jose' and Heather Chavez, Brian and Suzanne Free, Keith and Robin Marquez, Alan and Stacey McDaniel and Steve and Regina Peck. You might say it looked like “Date Night.”
We all had a really great dinner, and that's when The Gabe Cunningham Band fired up. Man, he sang everything — Stone Temple Pilots, Lionel Richie, Prince, Alice in Chains and Johnny Cash. We broke out on “Ring of Fire,” and the crowd went nuts — and it was a now a party!
