SPIRO â€” The Pocola Indians and the Leflore Savages staved off elimination in the 2012 LeFlore County Baseball Tournament with wins on Tuesday afternoon.
The Indians defeated the Bokoshe Tigers 12-0, while the Savages downed the Arkoma Mustangs 11-1.
Before the Indians and the Savages could meet, rain came and washed out the game.
The contest will be played at 11 a.m. Wednesday as Tuesday and Wednesday slate of games has been changed by Tuesday's rain.
Batten down the hatches. It's County Tournament time.
This week is the 2012 LeFlore County Baseball Tournament at Panama and Spiro through today, then just at Spiro from thereon.
Next week will be the 2012 LeFlore County Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex. The tournament bracket will appear in Saturday's edition.

WILBURTON â€” The Carl Albert State College Vikings ended the weekend on a high note as they defeated the archrival Eastern Oklahoma State College Mountaineers 7-1 Sunday afternoon.
The game was to have been played on Saturday afternoon, but was moved to Sunday afternoon.
The Vikings will return to action at 2 p.m. this afternoon in a single, nine-inning game at Ival Goodman Field against Connors State.

WISTER â€” It took until about dusk on Saturday, but the Wister Wildcats were able to get the championship plaque of their own tournament.
Caleb Hill's two-RBI double in the ninth inning rallied the Wildcats to a 9-8 victory over the Red Oak Eagles in the title game of the Wister Tournament.
The â€™Cats made it to the title game by defeating the Talihina Golden Tigers 9-2 Friday night in the semifinals, right after the Eagles blanked the Whitesboro Bulldogs 10-0 in the first championship semifinal.
RED OAK â€” Last year, the Poteau Lady Pirates softball team won the Red Oak Tournament on a cold, almost-wintry night.
While it was summer-like conditions Friday night, the outcome was not the same in 2012 for the Lady Pirates, who lost 12-7 to the Red Oak Lady Eagles in the title game of this season's Red Oak Tournament.
It marked the second win on the day for the Lady Eagles over the Lady Pirates, who earlier beat Red Oak at home in eight innings. Red Oak beat Poteau 13-5 in the winner's-bracket final.
A couple of big innings with big home runs doomed the Poteau Pirates Friday afternoon as they lost 12-7 to the Charleston (Ark.) Tigers at Town Creek Park.
GORE â€” The Heavener Lady Wolves softball team capped off a successful weekend by winning the Twin Rivers Shootout Saturday afternoon by beating the Porum Lady Panthers 10-0 in the title game.
The Lady Wolves opened the tournament with w 20-3 rout of the Gans Grizzlies and a 13-5 win over the Lady Panthers in the winner's-bracket finals.
CROWDER â€” The Cameron Yellowjackets baseball team won the third-place game of the Crowder Tournament with a 5-3 victory over the Hartshorne Miners on Saturday afternoon.
The â€™Jackets lost in Friday night's championship semifinal to Class 3A's high-ranked Eufaula Ironheads by a score of 10-0.
The Panama Razorbacks were eliminated from the tournament with a 17-4 loss to the Muldrow Bulldogs on Friday.
SPIRO â€” The Spiro Bulldogs moved two games over the .500 mark, pulling away with a big 7-3 win over the Farmington (Ark.) Cardinals on Friday afternoon.
FORT GIBSON â€” In a pair of crucial district games for the Poteau High School soccer teams, both came up short Friday night. In a battle of highly-ranked teams, the Tigers got past the Pirates 3-1, while the Lady Tigers handled the Lady Pirates 6-0.
The Lady Pirates will be at home at 5 p.m. today to face Keys (Park Hill) at Costner Stadium.
