HOWE â€” Several All-State honors came the way of three graduating senior Howe High School basketball players.
Brianna Hillebrand and Jared Brown were each named to the 2012 Indian All-State Basketball Teams. They will play in the 2012 Indian All-State Games June 16 at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville. Hillebrand's game will take place at 6 p.m., followed by Brown's game at 7:30 p.m.
OKLAHOMA CITY â€” The Oklahoma City Thunder closed out the Western Conference semi-finals with the Los Angeles Lakers by pushing the Lakers past their breaking point and dominating the game late to win 106-90.
Kobe Bryant scored 42 points, but the Thunder shut down the rest of the team and were content to let him score. Bryant had no assists in the game, and it was apparent early on the he was looking to score at every opportunity.
Russell Westbrook took over in the third to put the Thunder up, and Kevin Durant hit two 3-point baskets early in the fourth to seal the deal.
The foursome of Joe Claborn, Chris Faust, Chad Knight and Kenny Vineyard won Monday afternoon's Jack Hall/Patrick Lynch Shrine Memorial Golf Tournament at Wolf Ridge Golf Course. The team had a 53, and tied with the quartet of Josh Buchanan, Brett Hubbard, Matt McKown and Will Fogleman â€” who also had a 53. However, the Claborn team won a scorecard playoff for first place.
Brandon Severe, Joe Tackett, Joah Tackett and Gary McGinnis were third with a 55.
There were 61 golfers who participated in the tournament.
SALLISAW â€” The Cherokee Casino/Carl Albert State College Scholarship Golf Scramble took place May 12 at Shadow Creek Country Club.
Taking first place was the team of Marvin Thouvenel, Anthony Fornaszewski, Dalton Jasna and Paige Tolbert.
Second place went to Bill Falleur, Dale Brown, Andy Perdue, and Randall Wheat.
Trey Rogers won the prize for the longest drive, Dr. Bob Wells was closest to the pin on No. 15 and Paul Marshall was closest to the pin on No. 11.
The 2012 Poteau Pirate Red-White Scrimmage will take place at 4 p.m. Friday at Costner Stadium. The scrimmage was to have taken place at 6 p.m., but it was going to conflict with the 2012 Poteau High School Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony and banquet, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Bob Lee Kidd Civic Center.
Admission to the game will be towels.

The Wayne Husak/Memorial Day Tournament will take place Saturday and Sunday at Choctaw Country Club.
The entry fee for the two-player scramble is $100.
