When Spradley went to Colorado, he happened to run into a ranch owner whose father is a Baseball Hall of Famer. One thing led to another, and Rich “Goose” Gossage came to Poteau for Thursday's LeFlore County Youth Services Golf Tournament and banquet that night.

The Wister High School Class of 2012's baseball players had quite a way to finish their Wildcat careers. Of their eight baseball seasons in four years, the last five were spent with trips to the state tournament — winning the Class 2A Spring State Tournament in 2011. One of those players got a special honor earlier this week.
Outfielder Caleb Hill was named to the Small East All-State Baseball Team, and he will play during the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Games Week in the last week of July in the Tulsa metropolitan area.
