ARDMORE — While there was no LeFlore County high school track athlete who won a state title at the Class 3A-4A State Meet last weekend at Noble Stadium, one local trackster did very well.
Heavener long jumper Shaun Bradley placed third with a mark of 21-0.25 in the Class 3A Boys State Meet, and by so doing was invited to long jump at the Meet of Champions next Tuesday at Moore High School's Lions Stadium.
Bradley and Spiro's Todd Whitfield were the highest county placers. While Bradley was third in the 3A boys long jump, Whitfield placed third in the 110-meter hurdles (15.53 seconds).

Carl Albert softball team's season ends with losses in Region II Tournament

May 8, 2012

OKLAHOMA CITY — It was a short, and heartbreaking, stay at the Region II Tournament for the Carl Albert State College softball team.
The Lady Vikings saw their season end with a pair of losses Friday at Hall of Fame Stadium, losing 3-1 to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and 4-3 to Rose State. Carl Albert finishes the season at 16-34.
In the loss to NEO, it was a Poteau connection which gave Carl Albert a lead of 1-0 as two former Lady Pirates combined to put the Lady Vikings ahead as Katie Pierce's RBI single scored Katie Odom in the second inning.

WISTER — The Wister Wildcats baseball team is in a very familiar spot — playing once more for a regional championship, and a trip to next week's Class 2A State Tournament.
The ’Cats, however, did not have an easy path to Friday's regional title game by any means. Wister had to stage two comebacks to get two victories in the opening day of the Class 2A Regional Tournament on Thursday.
Wister had to rally from a 1-1 tie to down the Hartshorne Miners 3-1 in the winner's-bracket final, which came on the heels of a 4-1 deficit rally to defeat the Haworth Lions 9-4.
