For the first time since the 2011 football season came to an end, the Poteau Pirates will have an opportunity to go up against somebody else. That chance will be tonight in a three-way scrimmage at Tulsa Memorial along with Catoosa, which will begin at 6 p.m.
“After nine spring practices and football camp in summer, we're ready to hit somebody else other than those players in red helmets,” new Poteau Coach Greg Werner said. “We're looking forward to it.”
The major objective is to give the coaching staff a chance to evaluate the players.

So, when the Mustangs travel to meet the Porum Panthers at 6 p.m. tonight for their first scrimmage, Weatherton just wants to get his players some playing time.
The new Class 3A Heavener Wolves along with new their new football coach, Carl Lee, will get their first chance to go against someone else when they participate in a three-way scrimmage at 6 p.m. tonight in Haileyville with Wilburton.
The key thing in tonight's scrimmage from Lee's perspective is blocking and alignments.
