Local horse owner receives fourth leading owner title at Remington Park

December 12, 2012

The Ran Ricks, Jr. Award for leading owner went to Danny Caldwell of Poteau who visited the winner’s circle 21 times. This is his third consecutive leading owner title and his fourth since 2008.
Caldwell runs an operation that is strong in the claiming department, often purchasing runners out of races then immediately moving them up in class while gaining victory. He claimed Fifth Date, an 8-year-old Oklahoma-bred for $18,000 on Aug. 25, then won the $156,000 Oklahoma Classics Cup just two starts later with the gelding.

Look for EOSC Classic, CASC stories in Wednesday's edition

December 11, 2012

Sometimes even when I get what I ask, it's still not enough.
I asked for three pages for today's edition, and I got them. Still, I didn't have room for two stories which really needed to be put into today's edition.
One of those stories was about the final two days of the Eastern Oklahoma State College Classic, while the other one was Carl Albert correspondent Mark Couch's story about Friday night's CASC home games against Coffeyville, Kan. I'm planning on putting these stories in Wednesday's edition.
