Balanced scoring keys Lady Vikings' win over Redlands Lady Cougars; Redlands men rout Carl Albert State Vikings

Five double-figure scorers and good defensive pressure proved to be the difference for the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings in their 85-78 win over the Redlands Community College Lady Cougars on Monday night at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
Behind constant defensive pressure, the Cougars rolled past the Vikings for a 95-72 win in the second game of Monday night's Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader.

Poteau to play OKC Douglass on Saturday in McAlester; Talihina to travel for rematch with Cashion on Friday night

LeFlore County's two remaining high school football playoff teams found out their opponent, date and time for their next game.
The Poteau Pirates will face the Oklahoma City Douglass Trojans at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hook-Eales Stadium in McAlester. The Trojans edged the Oologah Mustangs 29-25 on Saturday in Oklahoma City.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all; no high school basketball this week

I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving on Thursday, and be safe in journeying to your respective destinations.
As you read this, I will have already made a journey to Enid for my annual six-month medical check-up and to have Thanksgiving with my mom Monday since she can't be here this week as we had originally intended due to unforeseen circumstances.
By the time you read this column, I will have already left — and possibly arrived — in Poteau as I will be back to work today to put out Wednesday's edition.

BOKOSHE — The Leflore Savages spoiled not only the season opener for the Bokoshe Tigers but the coaching debut of new Bokoshe coach Jeff Williamson as the Savages handled the Tigers 85-46 Thursday night at Bokoshe Tigers Fieldhouse.
Whitesboro 57, Indianola 16: In Indianola, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 19-3 lead after a period and never looked back.
Wilburton 54, Panama 36: Thursday night in Panama, trailing 11-8 after a period, the Diggers outscored the Razorbacks 17-9 in the second quarter to take a 25-20 halftime lead.

BOKOSHE — It took two overtimes, but the Leflore Lady Savages snapped their three-game losing streak to spoil the season opener for the Bokoshe Lady Tigers as the visitors prevailed 47-44 Thursday night at Bokoshe Tigers Fieldhouse.
Whitesboro 50, Indianola 12: Friday night in Indianola, the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 9-0 lead after a period en route to a 19-4 halftime advantage and a 39-8 lead after three periods.

Wister JH teams sweep Green Valley Conference Tournament titles

The Wister Wildcats and Lady Wildcats swept the titles at the 2013 Green Valley Junior High Conference Tournament on Thursday night in Arkoma.
Both Wister teams beat Howe in the finals, the ’Cats edging the Lions 28-27 and the Lady ‘Cats beating the Lady Lions 40-33.
Arkoma's boys nipped Panama 39-38 in the third-place game, while Bokoshe's girls beat Keota 29-27 to take third place.
In the consolation finals at the Howe Gym, Cameron's girls beat McCurtain and Keota's boys defeated Cameron.

Talihina makes state quarterfinals again with win over Hominy; Golden Tigers will play winner of today's Cashion-Okeene game next week

TALIHINA — The Talihina Golden Tigers won their Class A second-round playoff game with a 46-26 win over the Hominy Bucks on Friday night at Doc Robinson Stadium.
The Golden Tigers (12-0) will have to wait until today to find out their Class A quarterfinal opponent. They will play the winner of today's Cashion-Okeene game, which was postponed Friday night due to inclement weather in Okeene — located about 45 miles southwest of Enid.

Shattuck ends Arkoma's season

SHATTUCK — The Class C playoff run for the Arkoma Mustangs came to an end as they suffered a 62-14 loss to the fourth-ranked Shattuck Indians Friday night in the state quarterfinals.
The Mustangs end their Cinderella run at 7-4.

Late runs send Eastern teams past CASC squads

WILBURTON — The Eastern Oklahoma State College Mountaineers finished the game on a decisive 16-0 run and were 18-of-37 on 3-point baskets which proved to be the difference for them in their 98-80 win over the Carl Albert State College Vikings in the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference opener Thursday night at Claud C. Dunlap Fieldhouse.
An 18-8 game-ending run proved to be the difference for the Lady Mountaineers in their 75-60 win over the Lady Vikings in Thursday night's first contest.
