Facing having to cancel the bout due to a roster decimated by the flu bug and other ailments, Michelle Uriosteof Red River Roller Derby reached out to the River Valley Roller Girls to help them have enough for a team. Five skaters, including three All Stars from RVRG joined with the six healthy enough to make the long drive from Wichita Falls, Texas. The combination worked and Red River skated to its first ever win defeating Mountain Gateway Sisterhood of Steel 232-168 Saturday at SkateReation.
Anyone interested in coaching a Poteau City League baseball/softball team for the 2013 season needs to contact Billy Bond at (918) 647-1939 or via e-mail at parcball@windstream.net.
The first coaches meeting will be at 1 p.m. March 9 at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse.
The season will begin April 29.

Any team that is interested in playing in the 2013 Green Country League at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex will need to attend the first coaches meeting at 2 p.m. March 9 at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse.
STILWELL — Poteau wrestler Tyler Tustin won the 138-pound title at last weekend’s Maverick Conference Tournament. Tustin, who got a first-round bye, beat Wagoner’s Bryan Drake by a 14-0 major decision in the semfinals and defeated Sallisaw’s Gabe Taylor 3-1 in the finals.
All total, seven Pirates medaled. Derek Francis (170 pounds) came in second after losing in the finals to Sallisaw’s Cale Wilson.
Devin Anderson (120 pounds) and Daylon Brewton (heavyweight) were third. Kyle Kingrey (160 pounds), Khy Mote (182) and Gabe Sanchez (195) all placed fourth.
KINTA — The Bokoshe High School basketball teams split their Monday night road games against Kinta.
The Lady Tigers rallied from an early deficit to down the Lady Eagles 55-38, but the Eagles flew past the Tigers 75-22.
