Former University of Arkansas-Fort Smith (Westark College back then) player, and current Arkansas women’s assistant coach, Tari Cummings from Pocola was inducted earlier this month into the school’s Sports Hall of Fame.
Lake Wister and Talimena state parks have joined together to promote a heart healthy hiking program this year. A hike will take place each month, alternating between the two state parks.
The next hike will take place at Lake Wister State Park's Wards Landing Campground on March 9.
All hikes will begin at 1 p.m. Bottled water will be provided at each month's hike.

Quintin Ludlow's 3-point basket with a second left in regulation capped a dramatic fourth-quarter comeback for the Bulldogs as they pulled out a 33-31 victory over the Kinta Eagles in the Class B Regional Tournament on Thursday night at the Leflore High School gym.
PADEN — After a strong start by the Bokoshe Lady Tigers in Thursday night's Class B Regional Tournament game, the Lomega Raiderettes finished the contest the same way — and then some.
After falling behind in the opening period, the Raiderettes stormed past the Lady Tigers over the final three quarters en route to a 95-55 victory to reach tonight's championship game against Midway at 8 p.m. at Ada High School's Cougar Activity Center.
The first team from LeFlore County to make the state tournament did so Thursday night in the 2013 Organization of Rural Elementary Schools (ORES) state playoffs.
The Monroe Lady Eagles defeated Stidham 47-29 to win the Division IV Tournament championship game Thursday night at Fanshawe.
The Lady Eagles will play the winner of the Swink/Albion consolation final contest at 7 p.m. Thursday in at Shawnee Middle School in the opening round of the state tournament.
