Poteau softball trio honored by magazine

June 27, 2013

The Poteau Lady Pirates softball players who were among the Class of 2013 accomplished a lot in their four years donning the red, black and white. For three of them, more honors came their way.
Shelby Standridge, Brenna Vise and Kaylee Kingrey were named to “Vype” magazine's Three Rivers Softball Team. The publication is currently on newsstands throughout LeFlore County this week.

I'm finally on a winning team, Vincent and I take first place

June 27, 2013

The LeFlore County Bass Club had its last tournament of the 2013 circuit Sunday at Wards Landing on Wister Lake. There were 24 boats of anglers who caught 82 bass that had a cumulative weight of 202.75 pounds. Each fish averaged 2.47 pounds, and 11 limits were caught.
Don't freak out when you read this folks, but I and Bruce Vincent came out on top with 17.2 pounds caught to earn $525, and that included my big bass winner of 5.59 pounds to earn an additional $210.

Fishing, baseball are on deck

June 27, 2013

June is coming to a close, and it is finally time for my family to do some fishing — since we will actually have a few days off from the gym or ballfield.
The boys and I want to do some float fishing soon, and I am actually going to be able to get my boat on the water for the first time this year. Cash is really looking forward to it. However, his exact words were: “By the time we get to fish, it will be too hot — and they won’t be biting anymore.” I hope that isn’t true.
My buddy, Chuck Restine, and his son, Dawson, have been tearing up the bass tournaments lately.
