Webbers Falls too much for Bokoshe

WEBBERS FALLS — The Bokoshe Tigers will have to wait until next week to get win No. 1 on the 2013 season.
The Tigers suffered a 48-0 loss to the Webbers Falls Warriors in District C-4 game. The contest was called at halftime due to the mercy rule, where if a team in 8-man football is up by 45 points or more at halftime or at anytime in the second half the game is automatically stopped at that point.

Heavener Wolves fall in road game to Valliant Bulldogs on Friday night

A scrappy Heavener Wolves team faced off against the homestanding Valliant Bulldogs Friday and came home with a hard-fought 20-16 loss.

Spiro edges Stigler Panthers in District 3A-8 opener

SPIRO — Leading 17-14 with 1:18 left to play, Frankie Solomon and Trevon Mitchem combined to stop Stigler quarterback Seth Sandlin on fourth down at the Panthers' 42 and led the Spiro Bulldogs to a hard-fought District 3A-8 opening win.
Each team had the ball three times in the final quarter, but neither team scored.

Talihina celebrates homecoming with district-opening blowout of Quinton

TALIHINA — The Talihina Golden Tigers smashed the Quinton Savages in a 58-7 homecoming battle Friday night at Doc Robinson Stadium after opening the first quarter with a 28-point barrage.

LEFLORE — The Leflore Savages baseball team is one win away from a district title, but they had to do it the hard way to reach that point.
The Savages, facing elimination all day Friday, beat Panola 10-2 and the lone undefeated team in the Class B District Tournament, Buffalo Valley, 9-7 in the first title game to force this afternoon's winner-take-all championship game at noon today.
The Savages split their games on Thursday, beating Whitesboro 13-5 but losing to Buffalo Valley 7-4.

In Week 2, the two local 8-man teams, Arkoma and Bokoshe, began District C-4 play against each other.
With Friday night's games, the six 11-man teams started their real seasons, district play. Now, wins and losses as well as margins of wins and losses are extremely crucial.
I remember when I was at The Daily Ardmoreite, covering the Ardmore Tigers, it was the final game of the regular season as they faced Lawton MacArthur. The Tigers scored late to take a lead, and seeming the game.
