Now we know what Douglass people think of we Poteauians; Class 4A state title game to be broadcast live on Fox Sports Oklahoma

December 3, 2013

After one of the greatest wins in Poteau Pirates football history, I was surprised at all of the negativity that came from the game. You need to read the story about Saturday's Class 4A state semifinal contest between the Pirates and the Oklahoma City Douglass Trojans in the Sunday edition of The Oklahoman, and then read the comments at the end of the story.
The Douglass coach called we Poteau fans, “Rednecks.”

December 3, 2013

WILBURTON — LeFlore County did rather well on opening day of Blue Bracket play in the Eastern Oklahoma State College Classic on Monday.
At the Wilburton High School Gym, both Arkoma teams and the Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs posted victories, while the Bulldogs did so at EOSC's Claud C. Dunlap Fieldhouse.
The Mustangs handled the McCurtain Bulldogs 69-56, while the Lady Mustangs were too much for the Haileyville Lady Warriors in a 64-18 victory in both locals' season openers.
The ’Dogs routed the Panola Bearcats 58-22, while the Lady Bulldogs handled the Pittsburg Lady Panthers 46-33.

CASC women split games at Wells Fargo Classic; Lady Vikings upset 17th-ranked Arizona Western, welcome NEO Lady Norse to town tonight

December 3, 2013

Getting defensive stops and making free throws late in the game were both keys for the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings in their 51-50 win over host  Arizona Western, which was ranked 17th in the nation, in the second and final day of the Wells Fargo Classic on Saturday.
The Lady Vikings' inability to make plays down the stretch proved to be the difference for Cochise College in its 72-64 win over the Lady Vikings on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Vikings will return to action tonight as they will entertain Northeastern Oklahoma A&M at 6 p.m. at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.

Carl Albert men suffer two losses in Thanksgiving Classic; Vikings entertain NEO tonight

December 3, 2013

Mairega Clark's double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds weren't enough for the Carl Albert State College Vikings in their 93-73 loss to Clarendon (Texas) College in the second and final day of the Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday night in Plano, Texas.
Behind 52.9-percent shooting from the field and a 57-29 second half, Midland, Texas, powered past the Vikings 97-56 in the first game of the Classic on Friday night.
