The 2014 Hershey Track Meet will take place at 11 a.m. April 26 at Costner Stadium.
The meet is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 14, with three age divisions in both boys and girls â€” ages 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14, with competitors' age division being determined by their age on Dec. 31 of this year.
Those wishing to enter may mail their entry form to P.O. Box 608, Poteau, OK 74953 or drop them off at Poteau High School with attention to Dewayne Hornbuckle. The deadline to enter is Monday.
Poteau Lady Pirate golfer Hannah Ward won the Poteau Girls Invitational on Thursday at Wolf Ridge Country Club. The soon-to-be University of Arkansas-Little Rock Lady Trojan shot a 70 to win the top medalist title.
As a team, the Lady Pirates were third with a 368, finishing behind champion Idabel (346) and Fort Gibson (368). The Lady Tigers got the second-place finish due to their No. 5 golfer's score better than Poteau's to break the tie.
FOUNTAINHEAD RESORT â€” Two members of the Poteau Pirates golf team were among the top 10 medalists in the Hilldale Invitational, which took place Thursday at Fountainhead Resort Golf Course.
Cody Shore was the top medalist with a 71, while teammate Connor Wheat was sixth (78).
As a team, the Pirates were runners-up with a 314, three shots behind team champion Fort Gibson (311).
Rounding things out for Poteau, Jarrett Lowrimore shot an 82, with John Scott Sanders a stroke behind at 83. Connor Bandy had a 102.
ENID â€” A pair of walk-off home runs in the seventh inning of each game in Wednesday afternoon's doubleheader at Meadowlake Park doomed the Carl Albert State College softball team in losses to Northern Oklahoma College-Enid by scores of 6-5 and 9-8.
The Lady Vikings will entertain Connors State College at 2 p.m. Monday for a doubleheader, then travels to NOC-Tonkawa for a 2 p.m. Tuesday twinbill.
