Poteau, Spiro boys reach Thursday's winner's-bracket final

HEAVENER — The Poteau Pirates are the defending LeFlore County Baseball Tournament champions, while the Spiro Bulldogs are the top seed. They will meet to see who plays for the 2014 county title.
The Pirates defeated the Pocola Indians, while the Bulldogs got past the tournament-host Heavener Wolves by identical 7-1 scores in Tuesday's winner's-bracket semifinals.
The Pirates and the ’Dogs will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday at Poteau High School's Town Creek Park for the right to get to Friday night's title game here at 7 p.m.

Wister stays alive with forfeited win over Cameron when pitcher throws too many innings in single day

CAMERON — It appeared at about the stroke of midnight that the ball was still going to continue for the Cameron Yellowjackets in the 2014 LeFlore County Baseball Tournament.
After they beat the Talihina Golden Tigers 5-4 in 10 innings Tuesday on their home field, it appeared that at midnight, they outlasted the Wister Wildcats 4-2 in 11 innings.

Panama boys beat Leflore, Whitesboro to stay alive; Savages outs Howe Lions from county tournament, thanks to 10-run seventh inning

WISTER — Of the four teams who played Tuesday at this site in the 2014 LeFlore County Tournament, it was the Panama Razorbacks who stayed alive into today's action.
The Hogs downed the Leflore Savages 21-10 and got past the Whitesboro Bulldogs 4-3 in eight innings.
The Savages eliminated the Howe Lions 17-5 in the middle game.

WISTER — The Wister Lady Wildcats got the week underway in fine fashion with a pair of wins in their home three-way.
The Lady ’Cats beat Cameron 12-7 and Spiro 13-3. The middle game went to Cameron, which defeated Spiro 14-5.
Heavener 10, Wilburton 0; Heavener 20, Eufaula 0: In Wilburton, the Lady Wolves stayed perfect with a pair of road wins.
In the victory over the host Lady Diggers, the Lady Wolves scored three runs in the first inning, twice in the second and five runs in the third.

CAMERON — The Poteau Pirates, the defending LeFlore County Baseball Tournament champions, began defense of their title in fine fashion Monday night as they stung the Cameron Yellowjackets 14-0 on opening night of the 2014 LeFlore County Tournament.
The ’Jackets opened the day with a 13-1 clawing of the Whitesboro Bulldogs.

HEAVENER — The 2014 LeFlore County Baseball Tournament hosts, the Heavener Wolves, did what they had to do make sure they played in Tuesday night's winner's-bracket semifinals.
The Wolves edged the Panama Razorbacks 5-4 after routing the Bokoshe Tigers 16-0 on opening day.
Both the Hogs and Tigers split their two games, both beating Arkoma. The Razorbacks downed the Mustangs 14-0 while the Tigers beat the Mustangs for the second time in less than a week — winning 6-3.
