The Carl Albert State College softball team splits its home games with Connors State College on Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Vikings took the nightcap 4-3 in nine innings after losing the opener 14-3.
The Lady Vikings' home doubleheader Thursday afternoon with Rose State was rained out, and will be made up at 2 this afternoon.
At this time, the Lady Vikings will make up the second twinbill with Western, which as been rained out on two previous occasions, at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rose State College in Midwest City.
SMITHVILLE â€” The Arkoma Lady Mustangs and the Cameron Lady Yellowjackets will play an elimination game today with the winner hoping to win some more to claim the championship in the Class 2A District Tournament.
The Lady Mustangs and the Lady â€™Jackets will play an elimination game at 2 this afternoon, with the loser's season ending. The winner will have to win four more games today to win the district title. Day 2 action was moved to today from Thursday due to rain.
I hope you all had a Happy Easter weekend. We started our Easter weekend off with a fishing trip to Lake Tenkiller last Friday. We only caught two fish.
We went to Soda Steve's at Fin and Feather Resort for lunch. This is one really cool place, and the restaurant has fresh onion rings the size of hubcabs on a 1968 Buick. The real jewel there is its famous cheese fries that you must try. The hour drive is definitely worth it.
CAMERON â€” The Cameron Yellowjackets baseball team won the Class A District Tournament on Wednesday, and handled their opposition fairly easily.
Cameron beat Gans twice 16-0 and 12-0 after beating Arkoma 12-0 to claim the championship.
The Mustangs, who opened the day with a 13-3 loss to Gans, saw their season end.
In Cameron's first win over Gans, Cameron pitcher Blaise Lomon no-hit the Grizzlies, pitching all three innings with five strikeouts.
Thursday Games Rained Out
LEFLORE â€” The Leflore Savages baseball team faced elimination on Thursday, and the Bokoshe Tigers were eliminated in the opening day of the Class B District Tournament on Wednesday.
The Savages, who eliminated the Tigers 13-0, fell 4-3 to the Buffalo Valley Buffaloes, who began the day with a 12-0 win over the Tigers.
The Savages (11-11) and the Buffs were to have played for the district title on Thursday, but rain washed the games out. They will be played beginning at 4 p.m. Friday, with Leflore needing to win twice to win the championship.
HEAVENER â€” The regular season ended on a down note for the Heavener High School soccer teams Tuesday night at Harvey Stadium. The Fort Gibson Tigers beat the Wolves 4-1 to claim the runner-up spot in District 4A-6 and drop the Wolves into third place â€” and a road playoff game May 2 at Catoosa.
The Lady Tigers handled the Lady Wolves 6-0 in the first game of the night.
POCOLA â€” Tuesday was a good day of softball for the Poteau Lady Pirates as they got two road wins in a three-way, rallying past the homestanding Pocola Lady Indians 4-3 after seeing pitcher Jordyn Gotes no-hit the Sallisaw Lady Black Diamonds in an 8-0 victory.
The Lady Indians blanked the Lady Black Diamonds 2-0 in Tuesday's first game on pitcher Brooklyn Morton's no-hitter.
Spiro 3, Panama 2: In Panama, the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening inning, then added a run in the third for a 3-0 advantage.
TONKAWA â€” The Carl Albert State College softball team suffered a pair of losses Tuesday afternoon to the homestanding Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa Lady Mavericks by scores of 7-5 and 5-0.
Carl Albert, which made up Monday's rained out home doubleheader against Connors State on Wednesday afternoon, will welcome Rose State College to town today for a 2 p.m. twinbill.
COFFEYVILLE, Kan. â€” The good news for the Carl Albert State College baseball team was that Tuesday afternoon's road game against the Coffeyville Community College Ravens was a lot closer than last week's game at Ival Goodman Field. The bad news was the Vikings came out on the short end of a 14-8 decision.
Carl Albert will hit the road this afternoon for a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Redlands Community College in El Reno before the same two teams will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday for a twinbill at Ival Goodman Field.
