For Poteau's three senior boy golfers, Connor Wheat, John Scott Sanders and Jarrett Lowrimore, to go out as state champions would be the best way to cap their Poteau High School careers. That can happen by late Tuesday afternoon after playing 54 holes in the Class 4A State Tournament, which will be Monday [36 holes] and Tuesday [18 holes] at Lake Hefner North Golf Course in Oklahoma City.
Making next week's Class 2A State Tournament at Enid's Oakwood Country Club, which will be Monday and Tuesday, was not as hard as it might have seemed to others for Cameron senior Kody Whitehead. He had to go into a playoff for the fourth and final individual berth to state at Monday's Class 2A Regional Tournament at Pryor Creek Golf Course.
