Arkoma Lady Mustang and Finland native Rosa Orpo and Spiro's Kanisha Hutchinson and Sarika Willis chose to stay close to home by signing NJCAA letters of intent with the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings earlier this month.
Orpo is a 5-11 wing player. Hutchinson is a 5-7 wing player. Willis is a 5-5 point guard.
The LeFlore County Bass Club had its second open tournament of the season Saturday at Sallisaw Creek Landing on Robert S. Kerr Reservoir. There were 17 boats with anglers who caught 53 fish, weighing a collective 152.71 pounds. Each fish averaged weighing 2.88 pounds, with 10 limits caught.
Haskell and A.J. Higgins won the event with 17.9 pounds to earn $375. Doug and Dwight Camp were second (14.67 pounds, $225), while Chris Michael and Jeff Ransom were third (14.3, $150). Nick Cox and Jerry Christen were fourth (13.77), while Brad Hall and yours truly, Jody Adams, were fifth (13.4).
EL RENO â€” The Howe junior and senior high school trapshoot teams competed in the Oklahoma Scholastic Shooting Sports state shoot last week at the Oklahoma Trapshooting Association Shooting Park.
Ryan Vinson received first overall top shooter and first top male shooter after hitting 23-of-25 targets in the junior high division. The junior high team placed third in the state.
In the high school division, Linn Terry received third overall top shooter after hitting 25-of-25 targets and advancing to a three-way shoot-off.
