PRYOR â€” The Poteau Pirates golf team ended the regular season in fine fashion by winning the Pryor Invitational on Thursday at Pryor Creek Golf Course.
The Pirates had a team score of 303-307â€”610 for the 36-hole event, finishing 20 shots ahead of Hilldale (310-320â€”630) as the Pirates made up not only the seven shots they were behind the Hornets after the first 18 holes but beat them by 13 shots over the second 18 holes.
POCOLA â€” The Pocola Indians baseball team saw their streak of consecutive district titles stop at 11 last spring, so they decided to start a new one Thursday afternoon.
The Indians swept the Warner Eagles by identical 12-1 scores to win the Class 2A District Tournament.
The Indians will find out early this week who, where and when they will play in the Class 2A Regional Tournament.
RATTAN â€” The spring baseball season came to an end for the Cameron Yellowjackets as they suffered two losses on opening day of the Class A Regional Tournament on Thursday.
The Yellowjackets suffered a 9-8, eight-inning loss to Wright City to begin play, then lost 7-6 to Caddo.
HAWORTH â€” The Talihina Golden Tigers baseball team saw its season come to a close with a pair of losses to the Haworth Lions in the Class 2A District Tournament on Thursday. The Lions took the opener 15-0, then won the nightcap 8-6.
