Six LeFlore County high school basketball senior players were named to the Oklahoma Indian All-State Basketball Teams.
Three were named to the first team, Heavener’s Trevor Smith and Leflore’s Caleb Smith were named to the boys team, while Bokoshe’s Miranda McFarland made the girls team.
Talihina’s Tara Hawkins and Bokoshe’s Christina Silva made the second team Indian All-State girls team, while Talihina’s Clark Austin made the boys team.
Registration is now open for the 2013 LeFlore County Express Fall Soccer League.
Registration can be done through the Internet at www.leflorecountysoccer.com.
Registration will end May 31.
Cost is $35 per child registered until May 31. Beginning June 1, cost per child will increase to $40.

The LeFlore County Soccer Association will have a general meeting and mandatory coaches meeting at 5:30 p.m. May 30 at the Department of Human Services meeting room in Poteau.

The first week of this spring’s football practice has been a good one, at least in the mind of first-year coach Greg Werner.
“Things are going very well,” he said. “We have a lot more kids out and participating. We’re definitely getting a head start on where we’re at compared at this time last year. We’re feeling good about things.”
Next week will end the spring practices, which themselves will culminate with the spring game at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Costner Stadium.
